Untouchable for life.

Former Dallas City Councilman Dave Neumann Did Not Get a Parking Ticket Today, and Likely Never Will

In May 2011, Scott Griggs unseated Dave Neumann for the District 3 slot on the Dallas City Council. Today, Dave Neumann left a downtown event, hopped into a car on Lamar Street, pulled a quick U-turn, and headed off. On his dashboard was this placard:

This can only mean one of three (3) things:

1. Dave Neumann offered to go fetch a current city councilmember’s car and then pick him or her up.

2. Dave Neumann’s current profession is chauffeur for a current city councilmember.

3. Former city councilmembers get free parking for life in the city of Dallas.

There is no other possible explanation.

  1. Could me one more thing: Neumann is a thief, who steals City dollars/fees by not legally paying for parking.

  2. And now I have my Photo Shop project of the evening. Free parking awaits me!

  3. Now that he’s busted, he’ll probably just get one that says ‘clergy.’

  4. Funny this story ran today because my car was booted at a downtown surface parking lot this morning. Guess I need to make better connections or be a former city councilmember.

  5. I imagine a scene like the end of Three Amgios, with every car having one of these placards. The meter maids* are scrambling back and forth – they know some of them are fake, but how can they tell. Then Steve Martin pulls a face and El Guapo dies.

*what’s a male meter maid? A meter valet? A meter footman?

  6. @Bradford Pearson, Did the photog happen to take a pic of that placard on the way in to the event just because; see Dave Neumann getting out of the car, notice the placard and take the pic; or follow Dave Neumann out to his car and then notice it and snap the pic?

  7. Avid- I saw the placard, thought it was interesting, took a pic. I was waiting for some colleagues, and while waiting I saw Neumann walk up and get into the car.

  8. Great Bradford, now the city will do a $70k study to figure out how to make placards people can’t photoshop.
