Memo to Tawnell Hobbs: The Answer You’re Looking for is ‘Yes’

This headline just trolled me showed up in my Twitter feed:

Should Dallas ISD have paid Superintendent Mike Miles’ legal bill in Coggins case?

Oh my stars. Okay, if you don’t remember all the details of this absolute b.s. investigation, I don’t have the energy to recount it again. Just know I wanted to call your attention to this because, really, it’s the perfect DMN DISD blog post. Its construction is a thing of beauty: accusatory headline; eye-grabbing dollar amount; an “eff you, you’re guilty” before letting anyone respond; the much higher cost of the stupid board-ordered investigation buried in the middle after a full accounting of Miles’ much lower legal fees; the quietly acknowledged technicality that his contract says the district will cover his legal fees; then the oh-yeah-by-the-way note that the investigation essentially cleared him of everything; then the curb-stomp at the end where they basically make it look like he was guilty as sin all along because he LEAKED INFORMATION even though they KNOW the stuff about Miles “leaking” the letter is not true. Schutze did not get it from Miles. I know it, you know it, they know it. But, hey, blog post down for Monday, and it’s only 2 p.m.!

And what’s the alternative? We ask superintendents to foot the legal bills for board-ordered investigations of allegations made by angry ex-employees (whose allegations, remember, turned out to be BULSH)? Meanwhile, we’ll pay the new city manager 400 Large so we can attract the best and brightest. Oh, okay, makes perfect sense.

Seriously. Why do I let them troll me like this? I’m not young anymore. This angering up the blood takes years off the life of a man my age.

  1. I actually slammed my fist on the desk after reading her post. Made me crazy…. or crazier.

  2. This is the DMN’s subtle way of trying to make you quit your job and move out of town. Not that I’m making book on that or anything…
