Things To Do In Dallas Tonight: Jan. 27

Andrews Cope as Tom Sawyer is up there in the corner.
Andrews Cope as Tom Sawyer is up there in the corner. This was just the most interesting-looking photo of the ones I received. That’s Van Quattro as Injun Joe, and Jake Buchanan as Joe Harper. Photo by Karen Almond.

Tonight’s Oral Fixation storytelling event at the Winspear’s Hamon Hall is sold out.

Other options for your Monday evening are strangely concentrated in Addison. The WaterTower Theater opens The Adventures of Tom Sawyer tonight, and there are still seats left for the performance. Mark Twain’s classic tale, adapted for the stage, concerns an erstwhile but enterprising young man who learned an valuable lesson early in life: how to get other people to do his work for him.

Also this evening, Lakewood Brewing Company has a reasonably-priced beer dinner at the Addison Ice House. You’ll have to call for a reservation, but the dinner includes four courses with appropriate beer pairings from the local brewery.

Finally, it might be a good opportunity to drop by The Blind Butcher, Greenville Avenue’s latest fun place for drinks and food stuffs. Over on SideDish, Matt Shelley’s awesome photos are incredibly convincing. That pastrami egg roll. I want it.
