In case you missed it, Elmore Leonard died this morning (he was 87, but still). His crime novels and short stories are the basis for Justified, which is a great TV show you should be watching, and not just because it stars Sheriff Tightpants from Deadwood.
Tonight’s Burning Man documentary screening at the Magnolia is sold out, unfortunately. In Denton, there’s a great line up of bands at J&J’s Pizza. The venue closes right at midnight, so if you want to see the first act, Hex Cult, be there by 9 p.m. Next up is Daniel Francis Doyle and his band The Dreamers, and I don’t mind sounding biased when I say I’d go just to see Danny. He’s just a great guy. Talented, too. The final act of the night is Vulgar Fashion, which you may have seen around Dallas recently. Christopher Mosley has more about the show and Doyle’s new music over on FrontRow.
If the Rangers game doesn’t appeal (they’re playing Houston), I suggest finally taking advantage of Driftwood’s special three-course, $35 menu deal. They’re doing it for 13 Tuesdays in honor of their 13th place finish on our 100 Best Restaurants list.
