Things To Do In Dallas Tonight: Mar. 14

I just asked Carol if today was Wednesday, so that should give you an idea of how my morning is going.

Savor Dallas kicks off tonight, and while much of the wine-soaked weekend is sold out, there are still tickets available to tonight’s “Taste Trinity Groves” event benefiting Hungerbusters. And let me pull back the curtain here for a second and say that I almost wrote something stellar and potentially award winning like, “hot dog, Savor Dallas is back,” before I remembered that most—most, okay—people who aren’t college students don’t find hot dogs and vino a generally acceptable pairing. However, I win this round. Hofmann Hots, ladies and gentlemen. You’ll sample food from the Trinity Groves eateries and just generally drink and have a good time. Though it seems that Stella Artois might be pitted against Four Corners Brewing for dominance in the libation category. No judgments here, Stella is my panic order.

Also this evening, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds play the intimate McFarlin Auditorium. A good venue for them, what with all their sort of gothic moodiness and many instruments. But nobody blame me too much if I’m almost more excited for his opening act, Sharon Van Etten. Unfortunately, the cheap seats have sold out, but orchestra seats are still available for fans on the fence.
