Back in early summer the Paws in the City crowd had a “Dancing with the Stars” event at which they had a couple pooches up for adoption. One was a pretty tough story. The poor dog had had scalding grease poured on its back. Not a very pretty sight.
Ah, but Kelly Stafford (pictured) couldn’t resist and adopted the canine to join her other three rescue dogs. All four dogs are spoiled rotten since Kelly owns C.L.A.S.S.Y. Ladies by DT, a very unique pet boutique.
Kelly was spotted at the Family Gateway’s “Celebrity Waiter Luncheon” at the Ritz-Carlton Friday all in black from turtleneck to boots.

Too much WASP, lately. Bill Buckley would decree Catholic girls only if he was running this joint.
@Fr. Leacherous: Pretty blondes can’t be Catholic?
I saw last week’s “Accessory” post also. What exactly is meant by this distinction? That the women featured are accessories to be sought after and prized for their beauty and/or generosity. Might a different title be more appropriate, respectful and less-objectifying of these featured femme fatales?
@B.L.: We’re going by the definition that an accessory is “something nonessential but desirable that contributes to an effect or result.” Each “Accessory of the Week” (both male and female)complements his/her surroundings with their style and looks.
Having met all of the AOTW’s, I must add that they’ve all been very nice people who at the time they were photographed were donating time and/or money to a charitable event.
Just curious, since you are promoting her charity organization, do you know if anyone associated with her “Classy Ladies” has ever actually paid their charity a dime? Before you salute this woman, perhaps a little digging into her organization’s finances would be in order. I have spoken to several women that left the organization because they all gave their time and money to the cause and helped raise money, but none of their charities ever saw a dime. Not very classy, ladies.
@Charity Pups: Wasn’t promoting C.L.A.S.S.Y. Ladies as a charity organization. I believe that if you look at the post C.L.A.S.S.Y. Ladies was described as her business.
However, I was noting her attendance at the Family Gateway, that benefits children, and her adopting a dog from Paws in the City.
Sorry if I misled you.
Kelly’s BUSINESS is C.L.A.S.S.Y. ladies and she donates items to charity auctions for all kinds of very worthy causes! She also paid full price for her ticket at Family Gateway to sit with me and i was honred to ahve her and her contribution in the auction(s) that I’ve been involved with. She’s also very active in Paws in the City.
First of all, Thank You for the acknowledgement “D” Magazine, I am honored. Thank You Dena, I appreciate you defending me, my company and the fact that I donate to numerous charities. I am also looking forward to the “Polo on the Lawn” Event ! ~
In regards to “Charity Pup’s” comment.
Feel free to email me personally at kelly@doggytug.com. I would love to share my P&L with you. (that is a profit and loss statement . What has been spent on inventory, overhead, employee’s, etc…as compared to what has been sold. We have a warehouse of 700 carriers, thousands of leashes and collars, thousands of charms, beds, etc.. Guess who pay’s for all of that? Me. Keep in mind I haven’t taken a paycheck from the company since 2006.
We have sold 3 carriers this week, 1 charm and 3 beds. You do the math…But, the donations are going out. How? Me…So before you want to start defaming people, get your facts.
CLDT is a Business, not an organization, foundation, rescue, etc…we have never claimed to be. Portions of the proceeds from the sale of the line goes to NUMEROUS charities. They are all posted on the website and feel free to contact any of them for confirmation. Understand, those donations are through the company. If you would like to see what I have donated personally, I have no problem divulging that information either… Bring a calculator.
Moving on to the ladies that have left the organization because ” they all gave their time and money to the cause and helped raise money, but none of their charities ever saw a dime. Not very classy, ladies.” …. I would love to hear of ONE lady in the group that has ever stated that….The ladies were chosen based on charitable actions, donations, social standing and following. Many have been removed due to lack of charity work, promotion of their charities and lack of promotion of Classy ladies by DT. They have to do their part for the charity to receive funds. A total of 4 have “left” the group, and that was for completely personal reasons.( When you get 40+ women together, there is going to be drama…Never ONCE has it been for financial issues.) I have never asked any of these women to pay for a thing. I have asked for donations that have gone directly to charities, but what you are insinuating is extremely false. I am more than generous and that comment actually had me in tears…
Those active in the group are out promoting and participating in everything from the Holiday Classy Clothing Drive to animal rescue events, children’s fundraisers, food drives and more.
I am both, offended and disturbed by your post. To think someone would come to such a popular site board and post such negative comments about something they obviously haven’t even taken the time to research is pathetic. You couldn’t even go to the website? The damage that can be done to a company, charities and relationships is truly heart wrenching by blatant lies posted by ignorant people.
I will also clarify that I have supported Paws in the City in the past and have been truly blessed with my rescue “Faith”. I wish them the best with their endeavors.
I also wish I had seen this earlier… Everyone have a wonderful Holiday and God Bless~
By the way, I am Episcopal
First of all CONGRATULATIONS KELLY! You deserve it! You have given to so many charities including MANY of the ones I work with. I know you have given more product, beds and leashes than one could count.
Second I AM a Classy Lady and am Very Proad to be a part of Kelly’s work. The Company has done nothing but help promote a classy product and give freely. In fact there have been MANY knockoffs. I guess you could say if you are being copied it is a compliment. Classy has given to my charity time and time again. If you actually work at, donate time and effort for your charity, you will be rewarded. Blessings to all and again, Congrats Kelly You Deserve It!
I bet this site is censoring comments?
Because Kelly has basically burned EVERY bridge in Dallas, ruined her friendships and been disassociated with most of the animal charities including Paws in the City.
It’s not that Kelly doesn’t give items to a charity auction here and there–she does do that. And she does attend the various fundraiser parties.
But the premise of her business was (is?) to have about 40 of her friends involved and she promised to split all the profits with these “CLASSY ladies” and their charities (1/3, 1/3, 1/3). The problem is that she used all these women to promote her business and then dropped them (and their charities) with no financial accounting whatsoever. In fact, she never told anyone anything. Just changed her mind a year into it and never even apologized or offered an explanation to the women who worked for her with no compensation OR to the charities she promised to help support. And it isn’t 4 women– it is more like 40 women–all of whom supplied photos that she used in national advertising campaigns without compensation. Many did far more for her business–still no compensation.
This is the reason for Kelly to be pleading that her business makes no money–which seems really odd that she would be insisting about that here, doesn’t it? This is her defense when confronted about her fraud.
I would say it is a shame that D Magazine didn’t do any homework on the subject but I am not too sure it is much of an honor to be objectified with the label “accessory”.
Thanks Stacy, your a doll
I am amazed at some of these comments…
I have never had any employees or independent sales reps that did not receive compensation for their work. I personally hired 2 Classy ladies to join the sales team and they were paid generously. Any discrepancy there, check stubs can easily rectify.
I am still trying to figure out where all these “profits” are that are being referenced? Do me a favor, look up the definition of “Net-Profits” and get back to me.
Moving on to the photo’s… ALL ladies agreed to allow their images to be used in any marketing materials that were to be made. Some women sent me 20 + pictures…During those campaigns, we sold less than $2000.00 in product.
My marketing strategy had to change~ So, all images were removed and we went with animal friendly images instead. It was made abundantly clear to all.
Images currently sent to us are posted on the website and acknowledgment is given to those for their time, energy and efforts. I also have many that refused to even accept that they receive compensation for any sales, they wanted all to go to their charity once the company made money…. They understand how a business works. Then again, those ladies are on a completely different social standing than many of the other ladies that were included in the group. They weren’t in it for personal gain, they truly wanted to help others.
Many of these women were referrals from other Classy Ladies. Some, I have never even had conversations with…I trusted those who referred them and will admit, made some wrong decisions in accepting them into the group. So yes, they were removed.
For you to also claim….. ” the premise of her business was (is?) to have about 40 of her friends involved and she promised to split all the profits with these “CLASSY ladies” and their charities (1/3, 1/3, 1/3). The problem is that she used all these women to promote her business and then dropped them (and their charities) with no financial accounting whatsoever. In fact, she never told anyone anything. Just changed her mind a year into it and never even apologized or offered an explanation to the women who worked for her with no compensation OR to the charities she promised to help support.” ~
a) My financials have been available to any, and all involved in the group at any time. That has never been a secret.
b) Has anyone inquired? No… Since you seem to have such an interest in me and my company, feel free to enlighten me on those that have…or double check your sources.
c) For you to state I am conducting “fraudulent business practices?” Show me any FACTS that back that up…ANY.
The inventory speaks for itself… As does charm sales. The most charms sold to date in reference to ANY Classy Lady’s design does not exceed 30. ~ 60% of the charms have sold less than 5 and some, 0 ….(Those are the ones you see on the numerous product donations that go out weekly.)
d) Regarding communications between the ladies and the company; I have numerous emails sent to all ladies, not only by me personally, but by other Classy ladies, my employees and former employees. Many never even received responses.
e) The ladies images were halted from being used in any national print ads well before a “year into it”… Specifically, the first Cesar’s Way ad. (months ago) … They stated no images of women were to be used, they didn’t want them in their publication.
Continued: ” This is the reason for Kelly to be pleading that her business makes no money–which seems really odd that she would be insisting about that here, doesn’t it? This is her defense when confronted about her fraud.”
a) That is an easy one to answer….I was responding to (another alias) “Charity Pup’s” comment. ~ Nothing “odd” about that at all. You want to question my books, I am going to clarify. Very simple. ~
b) You want to accuse me of fraud, file a suit and lets go to court. I have absolutely nothing to hide. Unlike you, you can’t even use your real name…
As far as me “burning bridges”… Did it ever dawn on you that I figured out others ulterior motives and decided to remove myself as far as possible from the negative energy and drama? I have a life…. A great one, at that.
Feel free to listen to the gossip, point fingers, do what ever you want…. You have no bearing on my life and the fact that you must use an alias speaks volumes. Like I always say, “own what you say”….
I will say “Thank You” though, it is rather complimentary to think so many feel as though Classy is making so much money~ I can market a company very well. Much appreciated….
For the record, the reason for the dis-association with Paws in the City was very clear on my Facebook wall for a while. I changed it to only allow my post’s for that specific reason. It removed all posts by others ~ Now that you took it upon yourself to bring all this up again, looks like it’s time to change it back. They all pop right back up, with pictures. I will ponder that for a while. Do I really want that back on my wall? Hmmm…
When I have to question where my donations have gone, I feel that is more than a legitimate reason for me to remove myself from associating with a charity. I had no desire to bring that up and why you did, only hurts the charity, not me. It is very clear on the thread.
I have not had a single charity refuse monetary donations or product donations…so, again, False. I was even asked to be on the committee for “Four Legged Fashion” 2011. ~ I had to remove myself for lack of time to put towards the event, but your “disassociated with many charities comment” is humorous to say the least.
The charity is referred to in a positive light in this article and it is apparent I spoke highly of the organization…Really must question your motives there? I have moved well beyond that and like I said, wish them the best. In lamens terms…Grow up and get over it.
Then again, isn’t this about the animals?? Hmmm….
To think people would defame me and try to stop charities from receiving donations from me and my company to help their organizations shows your true colors…What a sad existence you must have to do something like that. I can also guarantee you were never my “friend”…I don’t associate with devious trash.
I am just someone that supports transports, adoptions, rescues, and other charities. Like me, don’t like me….I could care less. I still feel great doing what I do and no matter what is said to or about me, will have no effect on my feelings when I am able to help turn a bad situation into a good one…With or without Classy Ladies, I will continue to do what makes me happy.
So, if anyone should be ashamed of themselves, it should be you.
This company was founded on giving back and included like minded women.
Was I expecting slumber parties and pillow fights? No, but I can guarantee I was not expecting this… To be drug over the coals by people that have no basis for their statements other than “hearing this” or “being told” that…is so sad.
Life is too short to give and do what you can to help others only to be judged by “a former friend” (”former” being the key word ) and by the way, for the last 15 years I can count my true friends on one hand. I still have them, so your interpretation of any relationship you had with me was not friendship. Try acquaintance…if even that.
Have a Great Holiday and Merry Christmas!~
Well, let me first off state that I am the VP/Director of Operations for C.L.A.S.S.Y. Ladies by DT (CLDT). These accusations being bestowed upon Kelly are mind boggling! I have been employed with CLDT for almost a year now, and our financial books have been open to each and every CL in our organization. Which, for the record, we still have over 35+ women in the organization. You, “a former friend” obviously used to be a CL or affiliated with one because you are quite concerned with this nonsense “gossip” taking place – but, let me assure you that each and every CL that is no longer in the organization is because of their own doing. I’m sorry for any hard feelings that may have gotten in the way of business, but this is just purely business strategy. You took it to a personal level!
Compensation is indeed split 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 to all ACTIVE women in the organization – once again, I’m sorry if you left before the “net profits” have been tallied and divided. But then again, it’s not even the end of 2010, so how can we provide “net profits”??? Hmm, another false accusation bestowed upon Kelly. Proceeds are split at year end!
Kelly, I’m sorry that this great honor “D” Magazine has given to you, has turned into a “who said what” argument – but you truely deserve this honor and nobody can take that light away from you!! Keep giving to those who “deserve/respect/cherish” your true blessings!
God Bless & Happy Holidays!!
