Anybody have any guesses what this (pictured) is? It was unveiled this morning. Here’s a hint: think 1908 flood and the Trinity River.

It’s the new marker at the Turtle Creek trailhead of the Trinity Strand Trail, overlooking the old river course, before it was re-routed by the levees.

It looks like an Uptown sign painted blue. Theme or lack of creativity?

I think Rico is correct, but the beam is also set to the high water line from the 1908 flood
I thought it was a new piece of art for the Nasher.

There is a nearly identical red beam in Havana, a yellow beam in Paris and a grean beam in Geneva. All of these are “Sister Beam Cities” to Dallas and these artistic beams symbolize unity of purpose in the 21st Century. They all match the original amber-colored beam on a playground in Claremont, Ky., that is known as the “Gym Beam.”

It’s the Trinity River symbolically giving Dallas the finger.
