Getting ready for work and school this morning in the Rogers household, we listened to the new public radio station in town, KXT (which plays “music to the core”). Here’s what they played in the 7 o’clock hour, when I was listening:
SANTANA She’s Not There MONSTERS OF FOLK Whole Lotta Losin’ INGRID MICHAELSON Maybe UB40 Kingston Town PINBACK Fortress TELEGRAPH CANYON Shake Your Fist VAN MORRISON It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue LANGHORNE SLIM Say Yes THE AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT Does This Mean You’re Moving On? ELVIS COSTELLO Clowntime Is Over LITTLE BLACK DRESS Robin RHETT MILLER I Need To Know Where I Stand IMOGEN HEAP Swoon MANU DIBANGO Soul Makossa HAPPY BULLETS The Vice and Virtue Ministry
I had to cut and paste the playlist from their site because I could not have identified a single one of those songs. That’s a good thing. But I do have one minor complaint. I’m a fan of Gini Mascorro’s. I think she’s got a great voice. But it’s not a morning voice. Mascorro sounds like cigarettes and fine scotch to me, not orange juice and bagels. I want to hear her maybe around 10 o’clock in the evening. Maybe it’s just me.
Where’d you find the playlist? It seems non-obvious from the main kxt.org site.
Answered my own question: http://kxt.org/playlists/
I totally agree on the voice. Totally agree.
Actually, a lot of people would like to wake up beside Gini with her voice wispering in their prone ears but that’s another Tweet. Cheers to Gini and Joe Kozera who’ll be the afternoon tag-teamer. I know they must be the very nervous bride and groom today but I’m blessing the wedding day knowing how much love and talent these two can generate.
that’s 3 local bands in just that part of the playlist. There were more after that. Very good work. Can’t wait to hear tomorrow. You know, I think most people who like this music, would like to hear less talk, more music. I’d personally enjoy hearing Gini speak, but I’d prefer to hear one more song, honestly.
Love Telegraph Canyon’s latest CD. great cut from a really good cd. Available on itunes.
Sarah Jaffe live this afternoon. Already one of the best days in Dallas Radio in years.
she does have a great voice.
Since I have cigarettes and fine scotch for breakfast each crow of the ****, Mascorro’s voice shouldn’t be a problem for me.
Hurrah for KXT. Here’s hoping it lasts.
Thank goodness for some semblence of the KERA days of old. This is joyous for those of us who throw up a little in our mouths when we have to listen to the manufactured claptrap peddled by the majority of the ridiculous FM radio stations.
It’s good to remind them that other listeners have been waiting for KXT!
