After 30-some years in business, the Ole Moon is calling it quits. You’ll find everything in the Lower Greenville store is 35 percent off now. The store’s owner, Rudi Riffkind, is a family friend and has helped me many times over the years find the right birthday or Christmas present. If you stop in to take advantage of the discount, be sure to give her a hug.

That’s sad.I used to live on Merrimac, as a single guy. I loved the shop back when it used to sell vinyl and books. I have a Billie Holiday album and my first volume of Walker Percy I bought there. It was a cool place, and got me out of a few disagreements with the esposa, with a well timed gift.
When is the last day?
Yeah bill h, second your comments. Always a guaranteed gift finding spot which kept the blood pressure down versus the dreaded mall type experience. What’s forcing the closing? The usual greedy landlord rent increase? Shame.
I am so sad! Even though I left Dallas more than a decade ago, I come back often — and The Ole Moon is a MUST when I’m there. Have so many wonderful pieces in my home from The Ole Moon that I just love…and many friends whose lives have been enriched by a cheerful and unique gift from there. Thank you, Gloria and Rudi, for the beauty you brought us!
