Vote For Your Favorites in the Best of Big D: Services Poll, Starting Monday, May 20
The final round of this year’s Best of Big D Readers’ Choice voting commences Monday. This time we’re asking you to pick your favorite home, family, beauty, and fitness services in Dallas.
As usual, you can cast a ballot up to once a day on your desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile device. It runs through June 2, and the winners will be honored in the August issue of D Magazine.

Hey, you. Yeah, you. You like movies or the theater or going to concerts, yeah? Enjoy spectator sports? Sometimes watch TV, or listen to the radio? We thought so. Because of your unique qualifications, we’re inviting you to decide on the best arts and media and athletics in the Dallas area.
The balloting begins Monday, and as with our previous Best of Big D Readers’ Choice rounds, you can vote once per day (through May 12) from your desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile internet-connected device. We’ve assembled an elite list of nominees for each of our several categories, but you’ll be free to write in your favorites as well. The winners will be announced in the August issue of D Magazine.

Vote For the Best Dallas Nightlife Starting April 8
The third round of this year’s Best of Big D Readers’ Choice voting starts in just a few days. To prepare, you’re going to have to go out and party at the best spots for drinking and dancing, seeing and being seen, in the city. We hope you take this obligation as seriously as we do.
You know the drill: our survey will be open for two weeks, and you can vote once a day for all your favorites. Ballots can be cast via desktop, laptop, or internet-connected mobile device.

There are only three days left to cast your ballots for the best eating and drinking in Dallas. It’s been a record year for voting, so we know many of you already have. But remember that you’re allowed to come back once a day and do it all over again.

I mentioned this on Friday, and now it has begun.
Our Best of Big Readers’ Choice: Food and Drink survey is already collecting votes. Cast your ballot daily through March 31 if you want to see your favorites recognized in the August issue of D Magazine.

Vote For the Best Food and Drink in Dallas Beginning Monday, March 18
Round two of this year’s Best of Big D Readers’ Choice voting gets started on Monday. This time we’re asking for your favorite spots for dining and imbibing in North Texas.
As before, you’ll be able to vote once per day on your desktop, laptop, or mobile internet-connected device. Unfortunately, we no longer support ballots sent via carrier pigeon.
Votes can be cast over a two-week period, ending March 31. Yes, on Easter Sunday we’ll expect you to break away from your family’s annual picnic and egg hunt to spend a few minutes deciding who makes the best French fries in town.
We’ve added new categories this year (Food trucks! Fried chicken!), so there’s plenty more to make you hungry as your peruse our nominees.

You’ve only got today, tomorrow, and Sunday remaining to cast your ballots in our Best of Big D Readers’ Choice: Shopping survey. Remember that you can vote once per day, so if you want to support your favorites you’ll want to make repeated visits.
At midnight on Sunday night/Monday morning, the polls will close. Then you’ll have a week-long breather before we launch the next round of this year’s Best of Big D contest, Food and Drink.

You can vote for all your favorite shops, in 38 separate categories, up to once a day in our Best of Big D Readers’ Choice poll. This round will continue though March 10.

Best of Big D: Readers’ Choice Shopping Vote Begins Monday, February 25
Which shops will be recognized as the best in Dallas, according to our readers, in the August issue? Your votes will decide over the next two weeks, beginning Monday. You can vote up to once a day on your desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
Just visit Dmagazine.com after 12:00 a.m. February 25, and it should be obvious where you can vote. Then return every day through March 10.

Lakewood Stop Sign Voted the “Dumbest in Dallas,” Wins Award From Fancy City Magazine

A co-working FrontBurnervian pointed us to Reddit yesterday, where some tech-savvy Lakewood residents were discussing the merits of a new stop sign.
The sign – at the intersection of North Brookside Drive and Tremont Street, adjacent to Lakewood Country Club – drew such reactions as:
- “What a waste! I think I ran it the other day, didn’t even realize it was there.”
- “best part is that within a day of them going up, there was a wreck because of the stop sign…”
- “Brookside sees traffic flowing in and out of the Hollywood Heights neighborhood during typical rush hour periods, but very few cars drive on Tremont, so the stop signs took people by surprise.”
Google Maps shows – pretty conclusively – that this probably isn’t an intersection worthy of a stop sign. Most likely the efforts of  an overzealous neighbor with a kid who just learned how to ride a two-wheeler, IMO.
Thankfully, someone was thoughtful enough to brand the sign, and give it a highly-regarded, award-winning magazine’s stamp of approval:
