FIGURING OUT JIM SCHUTZE
From his latest filing, the best I can figure is that Schutze has somehow missed an entire three years' worth of public conversation about the Trinity. The committee meetings, the public forums and presentations, the newspaper articles, our entire special edition, etc., all seem to have whizzed right pass him. He seems honestly surprised how Mayor Miller led the change of the original engineers' plan into a better-designed, more amenable and interesting one. Therefore he surmises that this change somehow happened "secretly"--for the very reason that he didn't know about it. This is not an uncommon phenonmenon among some people--Mitchell Rasansky being a notorious example--but it is a little surprising in Jim's case because we know he can read.
