A Spanish-speaking FBvian who is not Mexican-American doesn't like the idea of rumor-slurs, either:

I have friends who work at DISD who complain, saying the same angry reactionary thing.  Apparently they think the only people who can speak Spanish must be Mexicans? Well I’m white as hell and I learned to speak Spanish, (ironically, the original European language spoken in our state, and the ONLY one when my family moved here in the late 1700s).

80% of DISD is Hispanic.  Yes, they are all learning how to speak English…being taught how to in Spanish just like I was taught to speak Spanish in English. Duh. People who resist change become victims of it.  Wake up and smell su café’.
