Dallas' own Martina Moravcova did well in the pool over the weekend. The full release:

VIENNA, Austria, December 12, 2004 -- The 2-time Olympic silver medalist and 4-time Olympian Martina Moravcova rewrote the Old Continent's history by winning the women's 100m butterfly (56.89) on the last day of the European Short Course Championships in Vienna, Austria. Her 5th gold medal in this event brought her overall medal total to an amazing 28 form the European SC Championships (18-7-3).

She also won the 200m butterfly (2:06,68), an event she swam only once in 1997, and placed second in the 50m butterfly (26,14 ) in which she set her 202nd Slovakian record. Moravcova dedicated her second gold medal to her long time coach Steve Collins of Southern Methodist University for his 50th birthday.

Martina is a native of Slovakia, and a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she earned her Bachelors in Business Administration and Masters in Applied Economics. During her collegiate career at SMU, she became the second winningest female swimmer in the NCAA history with 10 individual and 4 team NCAA titles.
