TopGolf Targets Fort Worth for Growth

08-Retail-TopGolf-4TopGolf, the high-tech golf-entertainment company with North Texas locations in Allen, The Colony, and Dallas, is looking to expand into Fort Worth, company executives say. The company’s first location opened in the United Kingdom 13 years ago, and TopGolf since has adopted an aggressive U.S. growth strategy with 11 locations across the country and five more currently under construction.

“We are being pulled by our guests out west to Fort Worth,” said CEO Tom Leverton in an interview with D Business Daily. “The closest [TopGolf] for our guests in Fort Worth right now is in The Colony, off of 121 … There are two different potential spots that we’ve seen in Fort Worth, which would be attractive to us. We’re under negotiation.”

According to Erik Anderson, the company’s executive chairman, the DFW market has been great for business. “We offer an experience, and as we’re growing we want you to feel that you can trust us with your entertainment time, and your entertainment relationships, and your entertainment dollar,” Anderson said. “Dallas likes to accept new ideas, especially new ideas that are fun and interactive. You’ve received the concept very well, and it’s a great place to hire people.”

Other immediate plans for TopGolf include the introduction of a league-style tournament in which golfers can vie for leader board-topping spots, which in turn can be viewed through TopGolf’s smartphone app. Also this year, TopGolf will open locations in San Antonio and Spring, Texas, as well as Scottsdale, Ariz., Tampa, Fla., and Alpharetta, Ga.
