Making Dallas Even Better

Where People Run in Dallas

An alert FrontBurnervian points us to the Flowing Data blog, whereon several images appear that show where people run in various cities. The data were scooped up using one particular exercise-tracking app called RunKeeper. What you see here are the digital trails worn by runners in Dallas. No surprise that White Rock Lake sees a lot of traffic. But I’m surprised by the raised fist in the middle of North Dallas.

The raised fist of North Dallas is caused by people jogging around the perimeter of the Village. Any time you drive down Southwestern, Skillman, or Lovers you will see people out jogging.

    Ah. That makes sense.

Interesting, but I don’t think Flowing Data takes marathons and road races into account. You can’t run on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge regularly, yet it’s a fairly dark shade of purple.

So this means Dallas is at least runnable if not walkable.

There are probably a lot of people using RunKeeper while they run races.
