Southwest Airlines will soon be more useful to the people of Dallas.

Cristina mentioned in Leading Off that today’s the day Southwest Airlines would announce its new post-Wright Amendment slate of nonstop flights from Love Field. Well, the list of 15 destinations is already out:

Starting October 13 (the day Wright expires):

Washington DC (Reagan National), Orlando, Las Vegas, Chicago (Midway), and Denver

Starting November 2:

New York (LaGuardia), Baltimore/Washington, Nashville, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, San Diego, Phoenix, Los Angeles (LAX), Orange County, Fort Lauderdale.

Tickets won’t go on sale until May, when the flight schedules and fares will be announced. Which are you most looking forward to?

  1. I’m just happy that Dallas gets more competitive fares for flights to these cities. Now Spirit will have to pay ME to use their crappy service to Fort Lauderdale.

  2. I agree that this is good news for the consumer. I disagree with your Spirit Airlines remark.
I have had to fly to Chicago several times over the last 8 months. I have flown Spirit every time with great service and very low fares including bookings 2 days before flying. They left just a few minutes late the day after the ice storm in December when it took me over 4 hours to get to the airport and all other airlines were cancelling flights.
