Ghosts of Dallas: Sammy’s Terrace Restaurant, 1940s

Mark Rice submitted this week’s images. They show the site of Sammy’s Terrace Restaurant, at 1601 Greenville Avenue, just south of Ross Avenue. He writes:

“Sammy’s Terrace was built in 1941 and was a well-known eatery throughout the ‘40s and prospered until the late ‘50s. The Greenville Avenue area had a thriving motion picture scene back then with the nearby Arcadia, Granada and others, and Sammy’s was a favorite after-theater option. It was run by the Messina family. The site is occupied today by the Monterrey Mexican restaurant.”
