Tacos and beer: a no-kidding combination that never gets tired.
Deep Ellum Brewing Company and Urban Taco has put together a special five-course dinner that features a limited edition brew (the Holy Mole, inspired by the restaurant’s mole poblano recipe and infused with seven kinds of chili, Mexican chocolate, Mexican Coca-Cola, and other secret ingredients) and at least three different tacos. Each course is paired with a different DEBC beer. It’s $45 per person, and as of this morning, there were still seats available.
Also tonight, Buena Vista Social Club makes a one-night-only stop at Bass Hall. More than 50 years after the members-only club in Havana closed, traditional Cuban musicians and an American guitarist got together to make an album inspired by life in pre-Revolutionary Cuba. This was 1997. Buena Vista Social Club is the group’s only recording, aside from live versions of the songs. It’s probably the closest to Cuba as I’m going to get anytime soon—and better yet, it’s like stepping into a time machine. Tickets are still available online.
