More Students Fighting, Using Drugs at School. Or, to be more accurate, more students were busted for drug use and fighting by Dallas ISD last year compared to the previous yeas. The DISD board heard a report on disciplinary actions Thursday, learning that the number of suspensions and placements in alternative education programs rose 26% in 2012-13 compared to the previous school year. This reversed a downward trend that had been under way since 2007-08. Board members, rather surprisingly, didn’t immediately blame the problem on superintendent Mike Miles.
Dallas Police Could Have Arrested Rape Suspect Sooner. Instead, Van Dixson fled to Baton Rouge after being questioned and providing DNA samples. So why’d they let him go? Well, at that point they only could have arrested him for outstanding traffic warrants in Plano, and those wouldn’t have held him in jail for more than a day, which wouldn’t have done them much good since they needed four days to get the DNA test results back. Next time I suggest they outsource this sort of lab work to the team from CSI, since those guys almost always manage to close cases in less than an hour.
Despite Sporting Awful, Ugly All-Gray Uniforms, Texas Tech Beats TCU. The final score of the football contest in Lubbock was 20-10. More importantly, a fox ran down the sideline behind the TCU bench. What sort of omen is that for the rest of the Frogs’ season?
