Making Dallas Even Better

‘Thrift Shop’ Has Officially Become Ubiquitous

I can’t recall hearing another song played on both K104 and The Edge, but “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis is in rotation on both stations. “It is really a song that appeals to everybody, no matter who they are,” said Ki Ki J, K104’s programming coordinator, “and it proves that good music is just that: good music.”

Had the pleasure of meeting Wanz at SXSW (he sings the hook in ‘Thrift Shop’). He’s now working on his own EP and has an interesting story of his discovery after 20+ years of singing/mixing in clubs. http://www.mycinsay.com/c/wanz/music-promo

I’m sorry but this is not “The Edge” music! It’s sad that The Edge has, well, lost its edge. The Edge used to play more alternative and grunge music. Stuff like Nirvana, Jane’s Addiction, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Porno for Pyros…the list could go on with more recent bands like The Killers, The White Stripes and even Muse and Linkin Park. Thrift Shop has a decent beat to it but hearing it every 15-30 minutes on the radio makes its already repetitiveness less and less tolerable. Regardless of the song being good or bad, it IS NOT what should be heard on The Edge!

Please tell me you’ve heard the Texas Rangers theme song set to the tune of “Thrift Shop.” cmap.it/16RhbV9
