I don’t watch sports much. But tonight’s the night for national championship basketball, so presumably I could make an exception. And I’ve actually been paying attention, sort of, thanks to overly excited friends and the fact that I do like a good underdog story.
Anyway, you probably have a pretty good idea of which bars have a good TV set up for your viewing/yelling pleasure, but Sundown at the Granada will have the Louisville vs. Michigan game on on their rooftop patio, with $3 drafts. Or you could clearly watch at home, on your couch, but the community experience is part of the fun.
No basketball for you? The Sigur Rós show at the Verizon Theatre is probably about as opposite an activity as you can get. It’s their biggest tour since all their return on the festival circuit last year, and they’ll have a new album out in a couple months. I’ll be honest. I listen to their music to help me fall asleep on airlines, so I’m actually feeling a little bit like a nap right now. But the concert should be a good one, and you can still get tickets online. Meanwhile, in the land of the Dallas International Film Festival, it’s the last day to catch the films in the animated shorts competition. The screening includes the Oscar-nominated Head Over Heels, a story about a husband and wife have grown apart over the years. He lives on the floor, she lives on the ceiling, and their marriage hangs in the balance. It’s a lovely, lovely film, and we recommend it highly.
