Police and Fire Pension System Trustee Resigns

From the Morning News:

Dallas police Officer Thomas White, who was elected to the board in April 2011, said he was concerned about the direction of the fund and could not “in good conscience” continue to serve on its board. White said that, during the past year as the controversy over Museum Tower has drawn increasing media attention to the system, the system’s board leadership has responded by decreasing transparency.

The system’s proceedings “have become less transparent not only to the media, but to the members, to our members, and to the board itself,” White told his colleagues during their regular monthly meeting.

“Our primary responsibility is the preservation of assets for all of our members. In order to do this we as a board must question all facets of the investments, and the investment allocations to be sure that the standards are met so as to protect and preserve our fund,” White said. “In the last few months I have seen the discussion of investments and issues wither away.”

Well then.
