Rep. Louie Gohmert Wants School Principals to Have M-4 Assault Rifles at Their Desks

The M4 assault rifle has been used by American forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a semi-automatic version available for civilian purchase can fire 45 rounds a minute. And it should be behind the desk of elementary-school principals, generic cialis online

/thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/273113-gop-rep-gohmert-wishes-conn-school-principal-was-armed” target=”_blank”>according to Tyler Rep. Louie Gohmert:

“I wish to God she had an M-4 in her office locked up so when she heard gunfire she pulls it out and she didn’t have to lunge heroically with nothing in her hands but she takes him out, takes his head off before he can kill those precious kids,” Gohmert said in an interview on “Fox News Sunday.”

This, of course, is not the first time Gohmert’s said something ridiculous about guns, because he also said the victims in the Aurora, Colo. shooting should’ve been better armed.

Louie Gohmert is a tea party nut job. I’m glad he makes the comments he does to show all of us how absolutely insane this man is in his thinking, and what his beliefs and those of his ilk truly are. I’m surprised he didn’t say that the kids should have been armed, too. There is no logic to this man. He says that the principal should have had an M-4 locked up in her office; if it was locked up she would not have had the time to unlock it to use it and probably would have been killed anyway. Louie Gohmert , how many guns do you have in your home, car or office? Are you armed to the teeth for what you perceive is a a threat to you or your family? This man has no business being a legislator in our country because he is certifiable. What’s sad is that he is elected by people who share his views, and by proxy this can only define who they are.

I’m digging the “filed under” handiwork, Brad.

If your child had been in that school would you have preferred an armed and trained principal or the unarmed one that was killed. The mall shooter in Oregon stopped and killed himself after killing 2 because there was an armed shopper in the mall that went after him. How many lives did he save?

My oh my, Rep. Louie is creative or needs some publicity.
We have Swat teams for this, not school principals !
And people vote for these idiots and their ideas???

I would prefer not to have my child attending a school where an armed and trained principal is in charge. Sounds too much like buying a rat-infested house so that you don’t lose sleep worrying about when rats will find a way in. Though the odds are remote, the principal could have problems of his own, or some clever kid could figure out how to access the weapons. I’d prefer an intensified metal scanning system manned by professionals close by but not directly on campus.

As for Rep. Gohmert….the vast majority of the people in this state and country know of his twisted extremism. Inflammatory rhetoric like his cost his party dearly in the last election. It’s time GOP leaders stand up and condemn his remarks, lest they continue to be thought of as a party riddled with members without a brain filter.

    @DB,

Biologists refer to these sorts of commenters as “prey items”.

Commenter critic, below, would prefer to wait for the S.W.A.T. team. Ironically, somewhere else, at the same time Mike Mooney’s Evil Twin is wondering how many 5-year-olds he could kill with a rolled up copy of D Magazine before the S.W.A.T. team, or even an adult stronger than him, arrived and effectively intervened.

Why not just give every baby born in Texas a fully automatic Glock upon their inception into this world? Once they pop out of their mother’s birthing canal, the doctor slaps them on the behind and then hands ’em over their new purty, but deadly, handgun with a free year supply of ammo(after that it would be the parent/child purchasing the bullets). This way, as the child progresses through the years, their trusty pistol will be like any other appendage they have. It’ll be second nature for them. Yay, humans!

The killer’s mother had a house full of guns, she did a really effective job of stopping him….now didn’t she!!!!!

Not to defend this guy but there is a difference between “I wish to God she had an M-4 in her office…” and wanting school principals to have M-4 assault rifles at their desks. He talked about ensuring “against the tyranny of the government…” but did not state that anyone inside of a school should be armed. His failure to mention that makes me wonder if he knows the idea, regardless how much he may like it, would never get off the ground.

I’m waiting for Louie to seriously open discussions on the type of assault weapons that should be issued to Pre-K kiddos. They need protection too. Middle schoolers could easily handle the big stuff — AK47s, for instance. And high schoolers get tanks, flame throwers and grenades. Of course we’ll have to do away with math and other classes to make sure they get the proper training and practice. Maybe the NRA could host the debates.

Can we find some federal grants to fund the arming of the kids?

You sir, are an ass! And have obviously watched too many Hollywood movies….resign.
