DART Investigating Selling Naming Rights To Rail Stations

I think it’s probably not the best idea, but I also don’t think it’s the worst idea. I guess what I’m saying is I don’t care a ton. It’s just a name.

That said, if it does happen, I’m putting the finishing touches on a Kickstarter page so I can have enough money to buy the rights to name the Pearl Street station “Gary.”

  1. I propose that DART have a rolling rave train night each weekend. After 11:00pm they could turn a special glow-sticks lighting on the outside of the trains(kinda like how downtown buildings look nowadays), darken the inside of the cars, have some disco balls drop down from the overhead illuminating the inside and smoke billowing thru the cabins(also a laser light show going on), and have a different DJ each night spinning records…..umph, umph, umph! Yeah yeah, boiiiii

  2. I’ve long thought that NYC Transit could close their deficits (and stop fare increases) by having corporate sponsorship of their subway lines. If DART needs the money, they should start with that before going as drastic as naming all the stations.

  3. Good grief.

I can agree with BrandonS’s suggestion. If we can name arenas, parks, and museums… why not CORPORATE sponsorship. But they would have to set limits, as Dallas is just not ready for a “Hooter’s Transit Center”, or a strip club sponsored stop… and that also prohibits groups like the KKK from sponsoring stops in South Dallas, or West Dallas.
