Obama’s Ahead in 7-Eleven Coffee-Cup Poll

If “recently collected data” from Dallas-based 7-Eleven holds up, President Obama will beat Mitt Romney soundly next week. That’s according to data, of course, from the convenience-store chain’s coffee-cup poll. 7-Eleven calls the poll “unabashedly unscientific.” But The New York Times points out that it’s been right in three straight presidential elections, even predicting the popular vote within a single percentage point.

  1. Well of course the 7-Eleven data is going to show an Obama victory. That’s the only place where the 47% big government teat suckers can afford their cup of joe. We here at the country club have done our own polling using coffee(spoiler alert. Romney won), grown and harvested, by dwarf peasant one armed laborers doing continuous summersaults while picking the beans in the Andes valleys of Peru. A typical cup here at the club goes for $100.00, but where not on welfare or old people receiving their pensions. So take that, smelly poor people! Sincerely, Biff McBigbucks

  2. If Obama loses this election, you can blame/thank the Right for bamboozling him. How is it ethical that an entire news network questions the President’s citizenship for four years to create doubt in voters while a fringe element of the far right demonizes and degrades him? Most of this is financed by the rich who want to keep their stranglehold on the flow of wealth in our country. Watch the white hands apply the Blackface to our first African-American President at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/10/bamboozling-obama.html

  3. The Republicans sitting behind me at the SMU homecoming game will be mad. It was equal parts amusing and terrible to see 65+ year olds taking so much glee out of stomping on paper cups with Obama’s name on them in the stands.

  4. Really, Brandt…really? This conspiracy theory you posit is both sad and silly. I’m sure the NYT, AP, Reuters, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, Hollywood, et al. would never even think about “bamboozling” a Republican president, right? All I can hope is that people like you smoke too much dope, and stay home on election day.

  5. Dear mynameisbill:

Republicans know that the word “data” is plural. We also don’t mistake “where” for “we’re.” We know when to use a colon (i.e., “spoiler alert: Romney won”). And “one-armed” is hyphenated.

Please crawl back into your 47% hole and pray that Republicans take charge of the school system again.

  6. Nice try Jessica, but SMU alums don’t get their coffee from 7-Eleven..haha.

What a dumb post and poll…

  7. Just to let you know, the most accurate predictor of electoral outcomes is not coffee cups, it’s not polls, it’s me. That’s right, me, Albert. I’ve never been wrong, never, and I don’t plan on ruining my perfect multi-decade record with rash and inaccurate predictions.

    Romney 52%, Obama 47%.

You can take that to the bank. They’ll accept it, no questions asked, they know me.

  8. @Albert – you might be accurate on the popular vote. Now let’s hear your scientific view on the electoral college…

  9. I guess Albert believes the popular vote will matter over the electoral college. Lets not forget one fact, Obama is the incumbant and that alone has wieghted the race. Obama is not running for office, just a second term in the office he already occupies. Mitt has run for this office in elections past and each time failed to even gain the support of his party. McCain was chosen over Mitt. Palin was cast in a presidential light above Mitt.
Obama ran for POTUS one other time in the past and won the nomination of his party and the office of president. One run, one win.
Obama ran against not only other candidates, but rumors about his citizenship, his religious preference, his affiliation with church pastors personal opinions, his college transcripts, his birth place and a host of other distractions, yet he won.
Mitt ran in the past and could not beat out other candidates within his own party. Now you have run out of choice and must push him forward as if you want him?
This election is nearly over and I want to see each of you on this board 11/07/2012 spinning in circles over the reality that once again, you must focus on birther non sense to feel okay. You will have to convince yourselves this did not happen as you go to work with those of us that supported a candidate we want to see in the white house rather than voted for someone just because he wasn’t the black guy.

  10. BTW I have two of those cups and own a Kuereg coffee maker. I have a ton of k-cups but went out to buy coffee at 7/11 just to snag the Obama cups. There are no more Obama cups at the store I frequent, sold out. Stacks of Romney cups are still available. I have cast my vote early and hope all of you have as well. No matter who you vote for, be sure you are voting for them and not just against the other guy. If you are smart enough to register to vote, don’t then be stupid enough to not know who you are voting for and whether or not he stands for issues that affect your socioeconomic level and not just his own.
I am a 5%er, not a 1%er, and not one of the 47% or even 94%. I am well off enough to be classified as a Republican from a financial point of view but have too many liberal views to vote GOP.
I believe in rights for all, to include women and gays.
I believe in feeding the elderly white people in Florida living on social security subsidized by my tax dollar.
I believe a life begins at conception, but does not end at birth. If you want a woman to bring a child into being she does not want, we must be prepared to feed that child when she gives it up. Too many conservatives are pro-life, but anti-adoption.
I believe a woman should be allowed to choose what she does with her body and she alone must decide, not men. I don’t even think its right that we need government intervention to protect her rights.
I believe in food stamps to the well off Americans living along the East Coast that have been affected by the recent hurricane. I am sure they will be waiting for FEMA and the government they so hate to come to their rescue now, then once back in the swing will spit venom about government handouts to the poor. I do not mind my tax dollars going to rebuild their summer home off the coast of the Jersey shore just so they can later bash that very effort.
I believe in foodstamps for all the honey boo boo children that will not get a tv show but still take their rednecks to the foodstamp office rather than to work like me.
I support the rights of bigots like Hannity, Coulter, Rush etc to spew hate because if we took away their right to speak for the fans they represent, I would lose my right to be just as hate filled toward them.

  11. I have not finalized my EC prediction yet, but I assure I know it exists. Patience, my friends.

There you have it, I don’t suppose this strategy of voting more than once is limited to you.

It looks like 7-11 has found a way to wildly increase sales to Democrats.
