Kim Schlegel Whitman Wants You To Bring Your Own Dessert

This makes me giggle. Kim Schlegel Whitman was on The Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hoda yesterday to share “8 Tips for a ‘Cent’sible Wedding.” You’ll recall that KSW had her own wedding at the Meyerson, complete with the orchestra and the choir. I understand it was an amazing wedding. But ‘cent’sible? One of KSW’s tips for Kathie Lee and Hoda was to have guests bring their favorite family recipes for a dessert bar. That’s the part that makes me giggle.

  1. I was about to make a snarky comment about how anyone could take Kim serious on this type of subject before I re-read and it sunk in that they were on “The Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hoda” which is only watched by members of Mensa.

  2. avid,
Unclear. Presumed connection between Mensa and expensive weddings and Kathie Lee and Hoda?

  3. I know her wedding was big, but who cares? I thought the ideas were cute, especially if you’re trying to find ways to save on your big day. Even if you aren’t on a tight budget, I loved the flip flops idea. Heels can be the death of any woman by the end of the night!

  4. She forgot to add that these sandals were to be airlifted and lowered from a golden helicopter, brought down by the performers of Zumanity. Also these sandals are handcrafted, molded from the marrow of the humpback whale and personally engraved with the Witmam family seal. Also by “family recipes” she assumes you are very dear friends or related to Thomas Keller, Wolfgang Puck and Jean Georges.

  5. Kim is a very nice person, and not pretend nice. Reader is right: so what if she had a big wedding? These comments are unnecessarily mean, directed at someone who has never had a mean thing to say about anyone else.

  6. Really, RAB? She never has said a mean word about anybody else? She has to have been a teenage girl at some point…..so, your plea for her angelic status falls short, right there.

  7. Flip-flops and potluck dessert aren’t sweet for a wedding. They are pathetic. Please, brides, entertain guests in a way you can afford, even if it’s just punch and cookies in the backyard. _That’s_ charming. Being asked to bring a dessert just makes me cranky.

  8. You got me, mynameisbill. She did call your wife a filthy ho once. To her credit, though, she immediately felt bad about it — and retracted the “filthy” part.

  9. @RAB….I’m not married, but if I ever do get hitched…..you’re damn straight, she(or he) is gonna be filthy! That’s the only way I like em:) p.s. bless your heart

  10. @mynameisbill:

You’re right about the straight part, but the jury is still out whether I’m damned or not.

  11. @RAB….I can change that part about the straight for ya…..the damned stuff, well, you’re gonna have to go ask Jesus concerning that.

  12. I don’t really care if she is nice or not, she is an embarrassment to Dallas.
