James said a lot of things today in his press conference. You can get the highlights here. He admitted to taking money from boosters while at SMU, noting, “It was an insignificant amount… It was wrong. And I was 18, 19 years old.” He said some other stuff too. But no, he didn’t say anything about that.

I totally understand where Craig James is coming from. I have inhaled an insignificant amount of air during my lifetime.
This “insignificant amount” of money was enough to buy duct tape, rope, garrote wire and a shovel or five, if you know what I mean.
Somehow I don’t feel that the death penalty was dealt to SMU for “insignificant” infractions. James escaped back then but I hope he’ll be held more accountable now that the election spotlight is on him.
…except that the guy he hired as his agent when he turned pro (Sherwood Blount) is the same person that set up the slush fund at SMU for paying players.
