A Look Back at How The Ticket Handled 9/11

I didn’t listen to The Ticket the morning of 9/11. Or at least, not when everything happened. I was still in bed when both planes hit, phone ringing like crazy, and woke up in time to see the towers fall. I heard a little bit of the audio this morning on my way into work, and then I noticed that Junior Miller had posted this story on his Twitter feed, by Super Awesome Good Analysis’ Eric Celeste. Give it a read.

  1. i was listening to the ticket that morning of sept 11 while getting ready for work. i couldn’t tell you WHAT the guys said exactly, other than craig miller’s quote about the plane hitting the building, but i do know hearing it from them felt like family, just like eric said in the article. the guys on the morning show were the best three to have handled it. props to those guys.

  2. I was listening to the little Ticket that morning and then any time I was in a car for the weeks after (OK, still do). I think people related to them because they were doing what we all wished we could be doing – sitting in a room with friends and four tv’s trying absorb and understand what was happening. We wanted to hear more than just the facts – we wanted/needed to talk about it. That’s what they did.

  3. I never listened to the Ticket, I’m still pissed that it’s no longer KAAM playing big band. But on 9/11/01 I’d just made an ad buy on 1310 and was listening to make sure my spots ran. I listened to them describe the situation unfolding and was positively gripped. You know when guys who grab ass around get serious and smart, it’s time to listen. Good stuff.
