Does Price Probe Involve Hillwood vs. Allen Battle?

A pay-walled story in today’s DMN reveals that Ross Perot Jr.’s Hillwood development company has been pulled now into the John Wiley Price investigation, likely in connection with Hillwood’s AllianceTexas project in Fort Worth. The Cowtown project’s huge Global Logistics Hub competes for business directly against The Allen Group’s fledgling Dallas Logistics Hub in southern Dallas County.

As Tim has pointed out, the Observer’s Jim Schutze has done great work explaining exactly how a Price-connected group allegedly sought to snag a piece of the Allen Group action. And, here’s a 2009 article titled “Cargo Wars” from D CEO that laid out the context–and what’s at stake–in the “fierce” battle for business between Allen and Hillwood.

  1. Do you what I’ve learned in the last 30 days from the Trinity Tollway and JWP affairs?

First, Wick-n-Tim’s narrative that JimS is crazy, misses more than he hits or that his best days are behind him is proven to be pure bunk. It’s laughable, actually.

Second, maybe this publishing empire should remind itself that it now longer owes any families any investment seed money. Support a new way forward instead of the old ways of doing “business” in this town.

  2. Today’s DMN article again declared as fact that JWP’s four wannabe “consultants” (Pettis Norman et al.) “asked” for the “opportunity to purchase” a 15% interest in the Allen project.

Allen has said that these “consultants” demanded a 15% cut, and when he didn’t give in, JWP worked to kill his project. The concepts of “asking” and “purchasing” were not part of the demand.

No surprise – it is just standard operating procedure for Dallas. Does anyone really believe, for example, that Eddie Bernice Johnson “asked” for her ownership interest in the Love Field Hudson News concession and “purchased” her interest at fair value?

This is how these South Dallas scumbags (including the preachers) and their crooked white paymasters operate, and I hope the FBI is able to smash this evil cartel once and for all. It’s too bad that our only daily paper is hopelessly compromised and untrustworthy when it comes to reporting on city and county politics.

  3. I’m still confused as to why the DMN continues to push that “purchase” story. I don’t remember reading anything anywhere that stated they were willing to pay any money at all, I don’t think they (SALT) ever put together any kind of financing, or have shown the ability to buy anything.

I don’t think THEY even used the word “purchase”, and Allen clearly doesn’t remember dollar offer on the table.

So why does the DMN keep saying that SALT was going to “purchase” 15%? Where are they getting that from?

  6. Huh. The DCEO article says not one word about JWP’s role.

Has D Publishing’s BFF, Carol Reed, been questioned by the FBI? She’s knee deep in Nealy just like Allyn Media.

  9. The simple approach of follow the money may very well lead back to Ross Jr. and Hillwood trying to defend their interests at Alliance. If they are part of this scheme with Pettis Norman and crew through their retainer with Ms. Nealy then it could be pretty embarrassing. Tough summer for Ross Jr. as he gets punked by Cuban and now this. Along with the failure of Victory Park when does Ross Sr. advise Jr. to consider another business than real estate.

  10. Glenn, I’m surprised you or someone else hasn’t already pointed out the similarities between the JWP/south Dallas “equity” accommodations and President Obama’s role in brokering the interests of Wall Street, specifically Goldman Sachs through Geithner, and those of the various labor unions and other Democratic constituencies rich and poor through his various “stimulus” and “reform” initiatives. Seems to me the more one understands how one set of these back scratching arrangements has worked, the more one understands how the other has worked, and most importantly how crucial to each that vast herd of true believing cattle eager for steakhood has been.
