Dirk Nowitzki Makes a Child Cry

Tim doesn’t think this is real. Something about the kid being too close to the bench, and his hips look funny, and Tim fancying himself (could just end there) as some sort of Photoshop expert. Like, “WAIT — the shadows don’t match.” We already have a Photoshop expert around here, sir, and I don’t see you wearing a vest, so it’s obviously not you. Anyway, that clip comes via the great J.E. Skeets of The Basketball Jones. GO MAVS.

  1. That is my son, Houston Austin Berlin, and I can tell you he was very, very upset to the point of weeping. He knew what was at stake when Dirk launched the rock. Little Hoss, as we call him, lives with his momma’s parents in Schulenberg while his mom works out some obligations in another state. And Little Hoss had given me permission to take all the money out of his college fund and put it on this game. Dirk’s shot cost Little Hoss that fund — every dime. We have had Little Hoss in therapy ever since — if he sees this video, we fear he’ll relapse and go back to pulping kids for their lunch money. He’s already been tossed out of two private school anti-bully programs — third strike and the judge says he has to enroll in DISD. Little Hoss still wears his “Dirkshirt” around the house, but with a certain wistfulness. He is prepared to attend community college, though his heart had been set on playing hoops for famed Coach Fawcett “Dribbler” Ousterhausen and the University of North Texas-Dallas Fighting Finches (the smallest of the predatory birds in Texas). Little Hoss still loves Dirk.
