Sure, we did what we could to put those self-satisfied folks in their place, by running them on our cover and thus inflicting the Paul Kix Memorial Curse upon their beloved football team and its fans.
But they’ve managed to one-up us again. They get to be on Oprah, one of her last programs to boot. And they’re being recognized for naming a school for George Dawson, a guy from Dallas.
Well played, Dragons. Well played.

Does anyone believe it is ironic that Oprah is taping a show segment in a Southlake,TX at school named for an African American man when the city is only 1.39% African American, and who’s high school football mascot is the “Dragons”?
Only 1.39%? Time to hire a new Athletic Recruiter.
A white-flight suburb is ok if it names a school after an African-American? Whoa, maybe HPISD should do this..naw..
Before you start throwing the race card all around, why don’t you actually read about the accomplishments of Mr. Dawson. His accomplishments are noteworthy regardless of skin color. “Jealous Green” is not a pretty color.
I’m sorry. I missed something. Exactly how is your article, Jason Heid, remotely related to journalism? Perhaps you should go write for the National Enquirer, where the high calibur of factual journalism is appreciated.
