The F-35 jet fighter being built by Fort Worth’s Lockheed is the most egregious example of wasteful government spending on record today. (Read why here.) Yesterday in Houston, McCain denounced it vehemently (but then McCain is usually vehement). But when asked if he would try to cut it, suddently he turned pussycat. Uh…well…you see…need to study…form a commission…uh
And right there, ladies and gentlemen, on display is the Republican Box. The Army alone “wastes an average of $3.4 billion a year on projects that come to nothing,” McCain told his audience. But there’s nothing we can do about it, because, dontcha see, it’s the military budget and we’re for a strong military and well, uh…

Invading brown people’s countries is only deficit spending when “the Democrat Party” does it.
Daniel, McCain was for the Libyan intervention. He’d intervene in Wisconsin right now if he could.
Point taken.
“Late evening with Col. Qadhafi at his ‘ranch’ in Libya – interesting meeting with an interesting man.” – John McCain on Twitter, 8-15-2009
It may take a while to get old entrenched Republicans like McCain to either retire or get with the program, but I think many independent voters and most Tea Party people are ready right now to cut whatever it takes to get federal spending under control.
The decision to go with the F35, who ever made that, is what McCain calls egregious.
Now that they made it, and start building it, it’s an whole other ballgame due to signed contracts, alternatives, etc. Hence the studies, commissions, and futher money waisting (ie. they should have the backout info readily available on these kinds of contracts at the time of signing them).
Maybe he thinks the F-35s are gay?
It’s just like spending(wasting) money on a fake suspension designer bridge. Oh, we have to do it because the money would have been spent anyway. Same ol’, Same ol’.
