Michael Davis — the vice chair of the City Plan Commission and self-proclaimed “social media beast” — has an interesting theory about why Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway has been taking so much heat lately. No, it’s not because he calls the chief of police when he gets into a spat with his wife (still waiting on those police reports). It’s not because he gave a key to the city to Michael Vick. It’s because the Dallas Morning News is out to get him. The paper is looking for payback because Caraway was against the alcohol referendum. Awesome theory.
But if the paper is gunning for Caraway, shouldn’t he stop giving reporters so much ammunition?

How about Caraway has been taking so much heat because he’s doing so much stupid **** lately?
Because I know that personally, when I do a bunch of stupid **** right in a row, I take some heat.
Exactly. He’s a resignation away from being mayor of the ninth largest city in the U.S. He’s newsworthy and open to any and all criticism.
I’d like to know why Mr. Davis refuses to approve comments on his blog posts. And why he doesn’t disclose his person and professional relationship to the mayor pro tem.
That’s a bit like blaming Gawker.com for Marion Barry’s political demise.
I think the DMN is gunning for Dwaine Caraway because he did not give them a key to the city of Dallas.
Aww, he referenced the CueCat … how quaint. You know who I blame? Tristan.
Perhaps Caraway subscribes to the boneheaded theory that any attention is good attention? Jerry Jones makes it work. Except for the whole Super Bowl seating imbroglio…
I believe that Michael has been/is Dwaine’s consultant. Always consider the source.
Natalie Imbroglio is a cutie! Sweet voice. Give her a key.
A few questions about Michael Davis.
1. Does this mean you’re revoking his 2007 D award as “Best New Media Star if You Need a Voice of Reason.” ‘Cause his P.O.V does not seem reasonable.
2. He used to visit D’s offices and post on this blog with some regularity. ‘Wha happin’?
I posted this last night on the DFWU forum.
Yeah Michael is gifted at spin, he really is. He basically said that since Caraway’s side lost the alcohol referendum, the DMN should be content, as if Caraway hisself was the face and the voice of the referendum. He wrote “I guess winning isn’t enough”. See what he did there? He made the alcohol referendum about the DMN “winning” against Caraway, instead of admitting what it actually was, or rather, not even mentioning it at all since it had nothing whatsoever to do with Caraway. But, Micheal invented that it was, just so he could make a point. That’s not just bending the facts, it’s making Twizzlers of the facts.
I will give Caraway kudos for the motel work he started working on, at least he is trying to do something positive for his district. Still doesn’t make up for doing stupid stuff though. And that’s something that neither Michael nor Caraway understands. They think that as long as your heart’s in the right place and you do good things, then it makes it okay to do dumb stuff too – even borderline illegal, like calling the police off his dad’s gambling house. Caraway deflected that gaffe by pointing out that the police have all kinds of other more pressing code issues to worry about than this one illegal gambling house that a few uppity neighbors were complaining about. Well, when you get stopped for speeding, does that tactic work when you point out that they should be spending their time patrolling the neighborhoods instead of pulling over speeders? No. It’s childish. That’s what children do because their brains aren’t fully formed enough to grasp complex logic puzzles. And that’s all Michael’s doing on his blog, and Caraway is doing with his statement that he didn’t do anything wrong about the Vick key to the City- they are excusing bad behavior because LOOK AT ALL THE GOOD HE IS DOING! I told Michael- after he attacked me on a mutual friend’s facebook page- that he is playing “hide the ball”.
Jeanna: I bet Schutze gets revoked before I do.
I might trade it for a pic of Tim in his top hat wearing Celeste’s cuffed shirt. Or maybe if Tim looked lovingly towards me like he does Troy Aikman…just maybe. Love those Notre Dame grads.
Yes speaking of ND grads, why isn’t someone like Tim Brown being praised and rewarded instead of Vick?
Can you “get” a politician if you can’t get readers?
