Peter King to Nation: “This Is a Debacle.”

SheratonSports Illustrated scribe Peter King just told his 500,000 Twitter followers: “I’m telling you: I-30 between Dallas + Fort Worth is a plow-less, snow-windswept moonscape. This is officially a debacle.” We will go ahead and file that under the heading “Less-Than-Glowing PR.” But you know what’s even worse? The gift shop at the Sheraton. That’s where most of the out-of-town media are staying. I popped over last night to see what the scene was like in the hotel bar, Draft. Short version: lots of dudes. If you’re looking for dorky white guys (aka sports reporters and broadcasters), head over to Draft. And then, if you want to feel really bad about your city, check out the Sheraton gift shop (pictured). Just be glad that Peter King isn’t tweeting about that.

  1. Th’ Sheraton giftshop ain’t exactly NorthparkMall, but then it’s not designed to be. Those smarmy sportsflaks should be happy they have heat. Some citizens don’t!

Peter King, you are a person held in the highest standards in your profession, and you make remarks read by many, how is your defamatory remark about North Texas anything different than a drunken slur by an athlete? We as a region have been the best we could be in giving the best experience for the world to see, but yet the worst storm we have had in years is the topic of your comfortability? Was your timing inconvenienced by your driver being careful? Our children have never missed four days in a row because of weather. Are you paid by the hour? Did you miss hours at work? This is a wonderful area that does great things and I want you to know that as a Texan it feels your comment was deplorable and you should be held accountable. A “Debacle” is at the hands such as a person as you, not the weather delaying your dinner time. Words are chosen by great people to convey great things, you chose to be a person to spread hate in a modest comment. You write for a living, a living I will no longer support.

  6. Are you nuts? Did they actually pay you to slur our community? The photos of the area shows that you are lying-and as we all know a picture is worth a thousand words. In your case, a picture is worth all of yours-even a picture that doesn’t turn out great! Go home, Peter. We don’t need your lies here.
