If you’re heading to the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee’s media soiree at House of Blues, be forewarned! They’ve upped the valet parking from the norm of $15 to $30.
Does the word “gouging” come into mind? Talk about unuser friendly.

It’s unusually cold, and there is ice outside. Those valets are working hard than usual.

So if you were the one working outside all night, parking cars for bad-tipping self-entitled jerks in 15º weather during Super Bowl week, how much would you charge?

Let’s not forget the wind chill. Pete just said it feels like 0 degrees. I’d gladly pay $30 to avoid as much of that as possible. Besides, a cab from my house to HOB one way would probably be at least $20, just one way. One man’s gouge is another man’s deal.

Normally I’d agree with you Enrique and Neal, but I just have a gut feeling that all that was decided before the weather turned bad. Besides, if you think for one second that the additional $15 is going into the pockets of those boys fetching the cars, then you need to come in out of the cold because the air’s getting a little too thin for y’all.

HoB has been charging $30 for the “VIP” parking for a while now.

The gates at my office garage, a short 300 yards from the HOB, were wide open today. $30 to not freeze, or freeze for free.
Your pick.

I remember parking cars in law school at the giant ice storm of 1978. I drove my old Dodge Demon slipping and sliding over to a private party off of Inwood Road. Tips weren’t that great, which is why I still remember it. I remember seeing flashes on the horizon of power lines breaking.

I was there & there was also inexpensive parking and frequent free shuttle service from the garage. Of course it’s not as sensational to mention that. So guests had a choice.

Maybe the person responsible for the valet parking pricing is the knucklehead who decided to do away with the normal beers and introduce the $10 oiler can beers.
