As Jason mentioned, where you should be headed this evening is to FrontRow’s screening of Cinema Paradiso at the Texas Theatre. But if you have seen the film a ba-gillion times and are looking for something else to do with your evening, we are giving away four sets of four tickets to the DSO’s Christmas Celebration, presented by NorthPark Center.
And you can obtain both these fabulous publications through one of those new-fangled “Group On” offers, at just $19 for a year.
Listen, I know that breaking into houses and taking other people’s stuff is probably way fun. I mean, I hope. Because all the work involved – and the risk – in breaking and entering seems like it would be harder than, you know, getting an actual job. Unless the job is digging ditches or something. It might be easier than that.
But I digress.
My point is, breaking in during Christmas is a really, well, heir-to-the-Massengill-fortune thing to do. But you know what tops it? Stealing a family’s dog, too.
So criminals of the world, at the risk of sounding naive, would it be to much to give the family back their dog, and perhaps lay off at Christmas? I know the economy sucks, but it sucks for all of us.
The civil lawsuit trial is over for Rebecca Aguilar and her former employer FOX4. In Uncle Barky’s exclusive report, Rebecca’s claim of unlawful termination lawsuit hit the jury yesterday.
According to Uncle Barky, the jury found within an hour that
“NW Communications of Texas, Inc., parent company of Fox4, had not parted ways with her on the basis of racial discrimination or in retaliation for her periodic efforts on behalf of hiring minority news managers.”
The six-day trial had Rebecca, Clarice Tinsley, Shaun Rabb and FOX4 management on the stand.
There’s really only one place to be tonight: helping to strengthen Dallas’ own fledgling repertory movie house, the Texas Theatre, by taking in the ultimate ode to the joy of film, Cinema Paradiso. They’re screening the director’s cut — not the shorter version that won the hearts of audiences all over the world and took home the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. So if you’ve not seen it since it first appeared on American screens in 1990, there’s much more to enjoy this time around.
The event is the last in this year’s FrontRow Film Series, which has brought both much-loved and little-known movies to screen at unusual locations around town. This month’s pick comes from acclaimed Dallas actress Diana Sheehan. Theater-goers will recognize her from her role in Grey Gardens at WaterTower Theatre in 2009. Admission is free, but be sure to RSVP.
Need a great place to grab a bite to eat before the 7:30 showtime? Why not set the mood with some pizza nearby.

Robert “Don’t Give Me That ‘Happy Holidays’ Crap” Jeffress and his First Baptist Saints continue their total domination of that downtown Dallas parking garage. (The underwater-looking light cast on the demolition site comes from a reflection off of our building.)
When someone makes a donation to a charity in your name as a “Christmas” gift, who gets the write off?
If it’s the giver, then it’s true — it’s more profitable to give than to receive!
The atheist ad campaign in Fort Worth has turned into a full-scale brouhaha, predictably. Who’s winning so far? Why, it seems the Fort Worth bus company is winning.
1. As Jason mentioned last night, after being worried for months that the New York Yankees would sign Cliff Lee, the Rangers saw the Philadelphia Phillies do it instead. BUT. The Rangers signed backup catcher Matt Treanor yesterday so everything is looking pretty swell.
2. The Mavericks’ 12-game winning streak came to an end last night, too. At least it was to a really solid team like the 10-13 Milwaukee Bucks.
3. And people are still grousing about Tashard Choice asking Michael Vick for an autograph after the Cowboys lost to the Eagles Sunday night. So. Kind of awesome sports day in Dallas yesterday.
