I mentioned this morning that some DISD whistleblowers were getting a nice payday. The DMN wasn’t clear on this point, but DISD is not paying this round of settlements. They paid two earlier settlements totaling about $1.5 million. Yesterday’s $1.4 million, though, will be paid by HP. Jon Dahlander, the district’s spokesman, points us to the settlement, if you’re inclined to read the whole thing.

Aren’t they technically HP Whistleblowers since it was their jobs with HP that they put at risk?
DISD is mentioned four times in the DMN article while Hewlett-Packard is mentioned once. In the settlement document, HP is mentioned 63 times vs. DISD and HISD twice.
Like DISD and HISD, HP is a huge organization that is now paying dearly ($16.3 million) for the actions of a few. But it seems like DMN’s reporting leaves DISD taking the bigger PR hit….again.
