Things to Do in Dallas Tonight: Oct. 26

It’s Tuesday, Oct. 26. How exactly did that happen? Aside from this being the day before the start of the World Series, it’s also Chicken Fried Steak Day. I’ll pause for a moment to let that sink in. Then, follow me to the next page, where untold wonders of fun and merriment await you.

Hi! If you’re anything like me—and for your sake I hope you are—you love the movie version of The Sound of Music, starring Julie Andrews and the wickedly handsome Christopher Plummer. WELL! Today, several theaters near you are offering sing-along screenings of this classic film. I’m an alto, so I tend to sing the harmonies (so if that sort of thing annoys you, consider yourself duly warned). Remember: It’s OK for adults to embrace their inner child, just not their inner teenager, and all the ugliness that entails.

Maybe you have no use for musicals (hater). If so, my advice to you is A) go hold a puppy and B) pray for your immortal soul, perhaps at one of the churches included in today’s Sacred Spaces Tour. True fact: one of the things I loved most about living in New York was learning the rich histories of its old buildings. Guess what? Dallas has some old ‘uns, too, and you’ll emerge from this tour knowing a lot more about three of them—and by extension a lot more about this great city we inhabit.

Saving up your energy for tomorrow’s game? Browse these other things to do in Dallas for low-key alternatives, and have a terrific night.
