Maybe you were busy watching Cliff Lee get a Chilean miner out last night. Or maybe you were like me, and a little sleepy and switching back and forth between TBS and CNN. But at any rate, what a game. I’m pretty sure I saw Nolan Ryan cry, even. I may have teared up, too.
But I should also show you these two things that happened. Let’s jump.
For one, this. The remarkably prescient ALCS graphic from TBS, featuring the Dallas skyline prominently. How’d they know?
And then there’s this tweet from our good Gov. Rick Perry, who may be a little confused, in his euphoria, as to who the mayor of New York is.

Dumb as a post!
As if Gov. Goodhair does his own Tweets. I imagine he thinks Twitter is the nickname of a waitress from Sugar’s Uptown Cabaret in Austin.
i did not catch the background!
Maybe a reporter can ask him about it? Oh, sorry, I forgot – he doesn’t talk to reporters.
Well maybe a panelist can ask him when he debates… oh, yeah, he doesn’t do that either.
Doesn’t ANYONE think it’s mighty strange and kind of un-democratic that so many candidates (Perry, Angle, Whitman, Paul, etc.) won’t even answer basic questions from reporters or even voters?
And that every single one of them is running as a Republican? I think all these Tea Party people are going to be in for a major “What the f*#%!?” moment if all their people get elected and THEN they find out they’ve been used by Rove/Armey/big business/insurance/oil to further take over our government.
And the funny thing is….he will be our longest-serving governor in about 20 days. Sorry libs!
I’m not usually one to defend Rick Perry, but where did he mention that Guiliani is the current mayor of NYC? Seems to me like he was just mentioning a prominent Yankees fan in his joke.
Not much of a sports fan, eh Lauren?
@Sammy: Sorry, but it’s not just Republicans who don’t answer questions. I’ve heard Bill White duck queries about Arizona’s immigration law and whether Texas should take a legal position against Obamacare. As I recall he said he didn’t”know enough” about those things to offer an opinion.
Um, why would a mayor make a wager with a governor anyway? Isn’t that usually governor to governor or mayor to mayor?
I’m with Lauren on this one.
You’re right, towski. There’s usually a friendly mayor-to-mayor wager involved in these series. I think when Perry says what should “we” wager, he means what should Dallas mayor Robert Folsom wager.
@ Glenn Hunter: But at least White will TALK with reporters and editorial boards. Now, whether he says anything worthwhile is another question entirely.
Perry did say he would talk with reporters, but wouldn’t sit down with editorial boards, where he would probably have to answer more serious questions than “How did you shoot that coyote?”
Angle actually RUNS from reporters, as does Whitman, although both of them are at least going to show up for debates.
So Rick Perry was entertaining a wager with Giuliani strictly as a prominent Rangers fan to a prominent Yankees fan? Oh, I get it now….
Come on, people. The point is that our governor obviously has forgotten that Giuliani is no longer an elected official in NY. You have to be able to see that.
Then again, as it looks like he’s about to be re-elected, perhaps most of you can’t.
Sorry, I’m one of those dumb people who don’t watch sports, and honestly didn’t know mayor-to-mayor wagers were a thing. Or, I guess governor-to-former mayor wagers, in this case.
Of course, any alert Ranger fan would recognize that the last (only) three times the Rangers made the playoffs they were defeated by the Yankees and Rudy Giuliani was the mayor of New York all three times and presumably was the winner of three bets. Maybe Perry was urging “we” to triple down with Rudy as well as facing off with Bloomberg.
Was the celebratory “champagne” spraying an alcohol free event ? Wouldn’t want Josh getting a taste of the poison during the celebration.
The first portion was ginger ale, for Hamilton and for CJ Wilson, who does not drink. They left, and the champagne broke out.

Why would the mayor of Dallas bet the NYC mayor anyway? Wouldn’t it be the mayor of Arlington?
