Two big announcements today: A) Adam Richman, host of the Travel Channel’s Man v Food, became one of my followers on Twitter last night. And guess what I learned? We’re both following Shaq and Neil Diamond! I love technology. B) I have unleashed onto the public my guide to the State Fair of Texas, which you’re going to need for the next few weeks beginning tomorrow.
But whatever should you do to amuse yourself tonight? I’m so glad you asked.
Tonight marks the start of Dallas VideoFest. Get there by 7 p.m., and you’ll have the pleasure of seeing all the great submissions to the Texture of Dallas contest, featured over here on our Dallas arts blog. Check out VideoFest’s schedule for more movies that might suit your fancy.
In case the DSO’s “Heroic Beethoven” series left you itching for more, you’re in luck. Tonight, Jaap Van Zweden and the gang will tackle Symphony No. 7, the Egmont overture (brooding, dramatic, and truly awesome), and a triple concerto for piano, violin, and cello. In my opinion, this concert lineup offers more bang for your buck than the previous show’s. Let me know if you agree, but not if you disagree. I don’t need that kind of negative energy. (While we have you here, check out Willard Spiegelman’s piece about the abuse of standing ovations in Dallas concert halls. Thank you, Mr. Spiegelman. It needed to be said.)
Don’t like my choices? Do you mind if I hate you? Kidding. Browse these other great things to do in Dallas, and have a great night.
