Which Gym Is It?

I have a deep and abiding love for Cake Wrecks, a blog that shows some of the most heinous things ever done to flour, eggs and milk.

It is, in fact, one of my go-to blogs when I’m bored. I end up laughing, and if I’m at work, I have to do it quietly and my coworkers think I’m having a seizure.

But today, while browsing, I see a cake made for a Dallas  fitness center (photo after the jump). According to the blog, this center has the tag line, “redefining the fitness experience.” Only, the baker made a few edits…

The Bears Will Beat the Cowboys on Sunday Because Jesse Jackson Says So

Forget about police protests over manpower shortages in Chicago. What the Rev. Jesse Jackson really wanted to talk about yesterday on MSNBC’s The Ed Schultz Show was football. “The Bears will beat Dallas this coming Sunday,” said Jackson, president of the Rainbow/PUSH coalition. “The Bears?” said Schultz. “The Bears barely beat Detroit.” But the rev is staying confident: “We’ll talk about it next week.” Jackson did have a few things to say about the police issue in Chicago, too. “We have sufficient security and stability in Baghdad,” he said, “but not in Chicago.”

Maryland House of Delegates Candidate Claimed He Was a Cowboy

mvaughnMeet Michael Vaughn, who claimed – during his campaign for a seat on the Maryland House of Delegates – that he spent three years playing for the Dallas Cowboys.

What? He doesn’t look familiar?

That could be because he never played for the Cowboys. Or the Saints. Or the New Jersey Generals. But even the Redskin-loving city of Washington could overlook these claims, and now the incumbent candidate has a place in the general election.

The Washington City Paper has more, including this assessment:

“‘My credibility is all I have,’Vaughn told the Gazette newspapers after the I-Team investigation. Well, your credibility AND your 3-year run with the Dallas Cowboys.”

Is Tony Romo In the Market for a Country Club?

The Racine Post quotes the general manager of the Meadowbrook Country Club as saying it’s just a rumor. But the paper also insists it’s heard from at least three  sources that Romo was interested in buying the financially struggling club for his father to run.

What to Do in Dallas Tonight: Sept. 16

It’s possible you’re already thinking about lunch and staring dolefully at the can of salt-free minestrone on your desk. Healthy? Yes. Joyless? Yes. It doesn’t have to be this way, people. Thanks to the kind souls at Burguesa Burger, you can score a free hot dog today. And, if you show up wearing a sombrero, you’ll get a free combo meal. (I’d like to see photographic evidence if you do this).

Next up, vanity. (more…)

Accessory of the Week: Anna-Sophia van Zweden

Anna-Sophia van Zweden IMG_0847Not only is Anna-Sophia van Zweden the daughter of Dallas Symphony Orchestra musical director Jaap van Zweden, she’s also a sculptor and champions the battle against autism. This past weekend she was the honorary co-chair of the DSO’s post-gala party at the Meyerson and took glamorous and gorgeous to new levels of “Wow!”

It appears that the Dutch miss has gotten a bit blonder since her chat with Tim last year.

Leading Off (9/16/10)

1. Who else waited all day yesterday to see the video of the officers (allegedly) beating a man only to listen to a 30-minute speech about how the actions of a few shouldn’t reflect on the entire group and then hear that the footage would only be released to the reporters who were at the press conference thus meaning a longer wait? So. Disappointing. (The fact that they didn’t show the video at the conference. And, ya know, that whole officers-allegedly-beating-a-citizen thing.)

2. We already know Dallas is a hotbed of sex. And that Arlington is in the top-10 of Men’s Health’s Most Sex-Happy list. But now comes word that women in Dallas prefer their men with a smoky aroma. I wonder how quickly that allure is lost after a man spends an afternoon eating barbecue and then blogs about his, ahem, issues.

3. Note to self: next time I plan a bank heist, do a test run with the Super Glue before. Also. Wear a mask.
