Six North Texas Schools Snag Blue Ribbon Status

A DISD-loving parent sends along a link to the newest list of the nation’s Blue Ribbon schools. Congrats to all six from the area that made the cut.

Bonham Elementary (DISD)
Thompson Learning Center (DISD)
Dover Elementary (RISD)
Lake Highlands Junior High (RISD)
Central Junior High (Euless)
Hurst Junior High (Hurst)

Congratulations to Bonham, which serves the Cochran Heights and Vickery Place neighborhoods on each side of “Hopping” Henderson Avenue.

Winner of 2009 National Excellence in Urban Education Award, Texas Business and Education Coalition Award and Texas Monthly Best Schools. Congrats to my friends and alums of the school Arlene Colbert and Rawlins Gilliland for their efforts in being true to their school.
