Pete Sessions Joins Tea Party Caucus

Pete Sessions indicated yesterday he’d be joining fellow legislator Michelle Bachman’s Tea Party caucus. So here’s the question I pose to Frontburnervians:

Is this good or bad for his constituents?

  1. Shows his true colors! Enough for me to not vote for him, for all the good it will do.

  2. After his embarrassing segment on Meet the Press last Sunday, I’d say this will do no harm to our fair congressman.

  3. Nothing he does is good for his constituents.

  4. I agree with Brandon – other than resigning, nothing he can do will improve anything for his constituents.

Anyone who associates themselves with Bachman is – to put it bluntly – an idiot.

  5. Sorry, Sammy but Michelle Bachman is going to be around for a LONG time to drive you nuts.

  6. The vacuousness he displayed last Sunday on MTP is confirmed by this stunt. He’s my congressman and he is an embarrassment. Spent money to shame a drunken sailor and can’t say what he would cut. Thank you Tom Delay for carving up a district safe enough to keep the likes of Petey around. Maybe next we see him Sessions will be sporting a rifle and a Paul Revere hat with dangling tea bags.

  7. @ joeat – Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of.

It’s nice to have her around for the sheer entertainment value, but when it gets to being dangerous and passing harmful legislation, then the fun quickly wears off.

  8. I think it is fantastic that he join. He, Palin, Bachman, Armey, Plumber (joe), as well as the cast of The Jersey Shore.

  9. What M Streeter said. As long as Sessions and Barton have their DeLay-engineered, Perry-approved districts, they can say and do any number of embarrassing things and keep their seats.

  10. For his constituents: Gambling interests, Investment bankers, Ponzi artists like his buddy Sanford, polluters, Pharma, it is good.

For we people in his district like me, not some much.

I guess he’s still buddies with Armey who’s corporate money front this group of FOX News rage zombies.

  11. Welcome to the tea party, Mr. Pete Sessions.
Your rep needs repairing, time to make an impression.
We wait to hear more of your fiscal-type wisdom
But to really add punch you must find a good idiom.
“Say no to dough”, might be a good start,
Or maybe kinda stronger, like, “Get off the cart!”

I can see where the tea partiers might like your dry wit
The rest of us, honey, think you’re a twit.
So word to the wise as you enjoy the caucus
After all in politics, it pays to be cautious.
Remember your etiquette, when they serve you some brew,
Lift up your pinkee, and watch what you spew.

  12. Sure, it’s good for him and his constituents! He is a voice for solid conservative values, which reflects the views of his district. He’s in the House leadership, and that gives value to his constituents. The Tea Party movement has attracted a lot of conservative support; his constituents (of whom I’m one), will like it. (Some of us still remember the shabby treatment his father, William Sessions, got from our national-ring-around-the-bathtub President, Bill “Where did my trousers go?” Clinton.)

I realize a lot of the commenters above are the same old bunch of incognito D Mag. editors/ writers, and other members of the frequent-commenter club, who are your typical limousine liberals from the Park Cities, and elsewhere, who love to trash anyone conservative and/or Republican. So, their hateful comments above about Sessions are not suprising. I’m expecting their usual vitriol to be launched, now, against me and my comment — as they’ve done before. Enjoy it, liberals.

  13. It seems like this blog has been a great way for the far left and far right wingers to advertise their political blogs. Unfortunately for Mr. Sessions, he’s in the middle of these two extremes. As a result, he gets ripped.

Shouldn’t you bloggers get back to your jobs at Geek Squad?

  14. Solid conservative values. Let’s see, poker, strip clubs. Wait. Hiccup, burp, fart. I feel much better.

And I’m no limosine liberal sir. I drive a Tahoe.

  15. Pete Sessions is in the middle? What?

  16. Pete Sessions knows that some independent folks in his district are organizing for a campaign against him in 2012. Constitutionalist via the Tea Party want 100% House Republican leadership change or the 2010 elections will be for naught. It looks like a Hispanic Tea Party member (former Democrat)is considering a run against Sessions. we expect sessions in December to do a McCain flip flop again and support amnesty because his fear of Hispanic challenge. He doesnt realize the Hispanics thinking running against him are anti amnesty— ha ha
