Nothing to See Here, Except Maybe a Funnel Cloud?

So, I don’t want to be all alarmist, but I do think that a funnel cloud is typically considered to be Serious Weather. The climb-int0-the-bathtub-with-a-mattress kind of serious weather. Where I’m from, funnel cloud = you might die of weather.

So I was a little perplexed at CBS11’s latest tweet.

  1. Bethany, You and I must be from the same neck of the woods. My grandma used to say, “See a funnel. Dig a tunnel.”

  2. I’ve seen a funnel cloud. My motto was a variation of Jeanne’s grandmother’s — “See a funnel, wonder whether or not you’re hallucinating but subsequently decide you probably weren’t in that instance.”

The vast majority of them don’t turn into tornadoes, apparently.

  3. One of the local stations just had a “test” of the EAS. I don’t know about you, but I think it’s pretty strange to test when there is thunder and lightning.
