Mario, Were We at the Same Sting Concert?

Hey, Zac, did you read Mario’s review of Sting’s concert at the Winspear last night for the North Texas XLV Kick-off Concert Series? Maybe I’ve been to too many Tony Bennett concerts, but it sorta surprised me that at one point female audience members poured on to the Skokos stage dancing and surrounding the Brit. Don’t ya think Mario would have mentioned it? Maybe he stepped out for a glass of champagne and missed that part of the concert.

BTW, I checked with an usher and so far none of the Dallas Opera performances has experienced audience members joining the cast on stage for an aria. . . yet.

  1. Maybe Mario thought that was revolting behavior that should not be encouraged or given attention.

What’s he going to say? “In the middle of the concert, several dozen audience members apparently mistook an opera-hall concert for a trailer-park wedding reception.”

  2. I wish someone would post on youtube a video of the girl in the green dress. She was dancing like a mad woman and having a blast. At the after party that’s all anyone was talking about: who was the girl int he green dress!?!

  3. I’ll guess that Mario had a harsh deadline that didn’t allow him time for much more than getting a basic review posted. With the DMN’s printing deadlines, you get maybe 30 minutes to write a concert review if it’s going to appear in the paper the next day, and you don’t always get to see the whole show.
