PETA in Dallas: Cows Exploited for Milk!

When Dean Foods holds its annual meeting here tomorrow, PETA members will be front and center, protesting the alleged abuse of cows at a farm serving the company’s Land O’Lakes brand, among other things.

In a news release announcing the Wednesday morning protest outside the Dallas Museum of Art, PETA exec Tracy Reiman charges: “From birth to slaughter, cows who are used for milk production are treated like nothing more than milk machines.”

To which we say: Well, yeah. Isn’t that sort of what they are?

  1. Finally, we may get to see some Plus Sized Protest Ads. And not skinny underfed waifs that would snap in two if they had to pick up a proper burger.

  2. I’m no fan of PETA, but the reality seems a bit more disturbing than Mr. Hunter’s usual glib take…

    From their website…

  4. Well, why in Hell else would you exploit them? For their civil engineering expertise?

  5. Yes. Good idea. Free them from their chains of milk machine bondage so we can enjoy their delicious beefy flesh

  6. Thank you for the link of that video towski. Not a big peta fan either but what a horrible eye opener..no living being should ever be treated that way. That video brought me nearly to tears.

  7. Reinforces my suspicion that PETA’s publicity campaign has long since fallen into the hands of the organization’s mortal enemies, who are doing everything — and doing it highly successfully — to make PETA look absurd. Wanna really make your point? Let those cows go unmilked a day or two.

  9. And God gave man dominion over all creatures great and small.

Thats why animals are so darn tasty. Man eats animals. Animals eat plants. Get over it.

Maybe we should protest the cows for eating poor defenseless plants. Oh the horror!

  10. I have just viewed the Peta video showing how the dairy cows suffer, it is the saddest cruelest thing and who in their right mind would want to drink the milk from these sick and dying creatures. Peta, you win, this video has just made me decide to go vegan.
    Starting like right now.

  11. @animals are tasty: I think there might be such a thing as abusing god’s gift. I believe forcing lesser beings to roll around in their own feces and prodding them mercilessly when they’re clearly dying would fall under that category. I’m not saying we shouldn’t eat animals, but the monstrous conditions in many meat/dairy plants are making cows – and people – sick. Forcing cows to eat things they can’t digest (including parts of other cows) and just generally ignoring biological imperatives leads to unhealthier cows with weaker immune systems and introduces illnesses that usually aren’t a problem…

  13. PeterK, if you’ve seen the documentary on PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk (which I will surmise you have not), you’d know that many of the animals being rescued by PETA are in pretty bad shape, like the dog she finds that’s been living its life on a chain and basically starved to death. Euthanasia is the most humane response.

As for that bogus site you posted, maybe you don’t know that it’s established by an industry organization whose funding comes from the tobacco, processed food, meat & dairy, pharmaceutical, and animal testing industries.

I’m sure that’s not biased in any way

  14. That video makes me want a cheeseburger, with extra cheese.

I bet that it tastes better than PETA propaganda.

  15. bluebird, you forgot to mention pedophiles, Glenn Beck, Tea Partiers, Halliburton, and the company formerly known as Blackwater. I’m sure they’re all involved too.

And I’ll have Rodger’s steak, thank you very much.
