Rick Perry to Coyote: Bill White Responds

So, as we all know because now it’s even a Google ad, Gov. Rick Perry shot a coyote that was eyeballing him and his dog. With a gun. A gun that fires hollow point bullets in coyotes.

Well, today Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bill White responded, telling the Dallas Morning News’ Gromer Jeffers that, essentially, he has seen coyotes before, and he tends to scare them off with his steely eyed stare and doesn’t need a stinkin’ gun.

“To me, I don’t tend to be afraid of coyote,” he said, hinting that Perry might just be a ‘fraidy pants and thereby delivering the first true “Oh, Snap!” of the gubernatorial season.

  1. Bubba Wuss: I’m around coyotes frequently in the forest when I’m with my dogs & neither I nor my dogs have reason to be scared unless the coyote is starving or rabid. My large dog Honey …who is a quarter coyote according to doggy DNA tests…even runs after them to play & the small chihuahua mix, Mona, did the same thing & when the coyote ran after HER to probably eat her since she is rabbit size, she outran him or her & was waiting at the car.

Clearly I and my dogs are a lot more comfotable with nature & the great outdoors…or for that matter better able to handle dicey situations w/o fear or violent reaction…. than our current governor who passes himself off as a man’s man. Rick, where I come from, shooting a coyote because you are scared is right up there with crying watching a DVD of “The English Patient”.

  2. Well said Bill White & Rawlins! We frequently see Coyotes in the park behind where our horse is stabled and it is quite obvious that they are far more scared of us than we are of them. A simple “shoo” would have probably sent him running…or better yet, just ignoring him. But instead, our Gov. was trigger happy and used deadly force. Is that really the type of paranoid & easily intimidated person we want to lead our state?

  3. While both politicians are just that, the fact that it gets under the skin of Leftists is good enough for me

And what does it matter if the Coyote is dead, his vote will still find its way to Whites count

  4. The fact is that Rick Perry over compensates for his total lack of masculinity. He was probably on the coyotes land. They are part of the Texas that we are told not to mess with. If Perry was the stud that he claim to be, he would have had something other than a Labrador with him. Perhaps a pit bull or rotty. I am sure he left his french poodle at home that day. He is just another Texas gal with big hair. Nothing more. Nothing less. Just nothing.

  7. Perry needs to get his myopia checked. It’s killing him and ruining us.

A friend of mine has forty plus acres outside of Rockwall. She has a coyote friend she calls Junior. Junior shadows her and the dogs when she’s doing farm gal stuff on the place. He even likes to play games with her and the boys on occasion.

Her logic for being nice to Junior is he is growing up. As an adult coyote he will have a range. Since her place will be in his range then she will have an advantage over being in the range of a non-friend coyote.

Now I understand this is a little too deep for some like Perry to understand, being so shortsighted and all, but it makes sense if you think about it.

Which brings up the question, “how can the high and mighty be so shortsighted in the first place?” Must be something to do with perch vs perspective.

  8. as a runner, I am still very suspicious about the jogging with a loaded laser sighted handgun. Gov. Perry is a legit runner, but I really doubt this tale.

  9. @ Rawlins…you are so right! I wouldn’t want to get on Mona’s bad side…

I’ve see a rabid coyote being aggressive once, but never a “normal” one. This was just a stupid attention-getting story. No way Perry thought through how ridiculous he would look.

  10. True story:

Two of Bill White’s dogs were killed by coyotes over the years. Look it up. It was in the Houston Chronicle. Bill White is a lame-o who lets his pets get murdered by coyotes because he is “not afraid” of them. Maybe he should be less oblivious to the lives of his pets.

You could pretty much append this statement to any story about Perry, including the one about the day he was born.

  12. Ombudsman,

Actually, Bill White killed his pets as part of a Satanic ritual. Because he’s a Muslim, which means the same thing as Nazi and African — look it up.

  13. Perry was just concerned about the large anvil the coyote was aiming his way.
