1. I know Dallas City Manager Mary Suhm will make a decision later this month, but can I just put in my strong vote for Austin police chief Art Acevedo for the Dallas police chief position now being vacated by a retiring David Kunkle? In order to replace the man who gave us a new word and willingly starred in such epic video gems as this, we need a man willing to sport the jazz hands in uniform.
2. So yesterday, I said Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said this. Later in the day, Dallas County DA Craig Watkins said this. And then SMU politics go-to guy Cal Jillson said some stuff. And the question is still there: Is anyone besides the guy the county commissioners hired looking into the constable thing?
3. Badukadonk-gate continues, and will continue, now that Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway has said he’d like to see the city tighten laws prohibiting filming without a permit. He frets about the possibility of a Michael Jackson-like video where she gets a bunch of people to disrobe in public. For the rest of the day, I’ll be searching YouTube for a video apparently only Dwaine Caraway has seen. While I look, here’s a Friday Morning Earworm.
4. Saturday, Apple begins selling iPads to early adopters willing to stand in line. I predict lines here and here. Me? I’ll be at home, using my mini iPad to Talking Carl my dogs, whatever’s on TV, and NPR.
5. Remember what I said in No. 1? I may be waffling. Pretty. Lady Frontburnervian voting commencing now.

Any Friday with Bethany doing leading off is a GOOD FRIDAY. Happy Easter, y’all.
1. No opinion.
2. No.
3. Although I applaud his efforts to get kids to pull their pants up, the last thing we need is MORE permits for filming. Dallas’ production industry is already choking on “this economy” and more restrictions ain’t gonna help. It was a one time thing. Get over it.
4.I don’t get the iPad. Maybe you’ve got an ap for that.
5. Va-va-voom. That man can tase me any day.
And, what’s with the 5 point leading off…I nnotice Tim Rogers adapted to this over-achieving trend earlier in the week. Take that, you lazy 3 pointers.
Dallas should embrace permit-less filming. If Abe Zapruder had to have a permit, would we have gotten his movie of the JFK assassination?
Let me get this right, in Caraway’s mind:
Erykah Badu did not get a permit. That means we need to strengthen the permit process because a stronger permitting process means that Badu, who did not bother getting a permit, will get a permit next time she pulls this off.
Is it just me? Or, does Dwaine Caraway have an obession with clothes?
Jeez, other cities have people who are famous solely for being evernude. What’s the big deal? In NY or SF or somewhere there’s a guy The Naked Cowboy or something who walks around with nothing but a cowboy hat and his “faithful Indian companion.” I gather spotting him is kind of a Where’s Waldo thing maybe I should rephrase that.
And how can you “desecrate” a place where a man got shot? Didn’t the assassin(s) already accomplish that, preovided that an ugly underpass was sacred to begin with somehow?
amanda – down, girl, down.
#5 Is “metrosexual” really the police-image that Dallas is looking for?
I think a guy can be handsome without being metrosexual. I don’t see metrosexual – what makes him so, to you?
I’m crossing my fingers for Daniel Garcia.
I really like Floyd Simpson, but I’m with you Bethany. mmmm.
