On Sunday, February 14, likely more people will attend a basketball game than at any time in human history (the aliens, I think, still hold the record). It’s called the NBA All-Star Game, to be played at Cowboys Stadium. Here are some renderings of how they court will be set up — though I am bound to point out that these renderings are for concept only and are subject to change. You also need to know that the images are courtesy of NBA Entertainment. So there.

Hmm, so they’re putting the playing surface in the center of the venue with seats on all sides? Interesting!
It was bad enough when the NCAA starting putting Final Fours in dome stadiums, but at least they put the court in the end zone so there were at least a few good seats. Last year they starting putting them at centerfield (like NBA all-star game). Now there won’t be very many seats that have a decent view. Good thing there is that huge TV to watch at the stadium. You could be on last row of “court seating” and have to look up at video board to see anything.
test run is this Saturday, Texas vs. UNC
Putting the court at the 50-yard line pretty much guarantees that every seat other than the first few on the floor will totally suck.
But Jerry’s proven with the Cowboys that he doesn’t care a whit about whether the athletic game product(tm) that is on the floor/field is worth watching so long as the sheep keep coming to the games.
I guess this layout makes those field-level suites obstructed view seats. Will they be available at a discount?
