Is DA Craig Watkins Facebooking on the Job?

Tom McGregor over at Dallas Blog has accused District Attorney Craig Watkins of not only Facebooking while on the job but using it to campaign, which would be a no-no. Says McGregor:

As a matter of fact, D.A. Watkins posts Facebook comments when he should be working in his office on weekdays during the hours between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. He even does Facebook campaigning and fundraising from the D.A.’s office, which technically is the property of Dallas County. Hence, his actions raise ethical concerns, since the taxpayers of Dallas County are subsidizing his campaign activities.

My question (and I’ve posed it to McGregor, who didn’t have an answer): how do you know it’s Watkins who is doing the updating? For instance, this post, which is bylined “Tim Rogers” is actually being written by me, Krista Nightengale.

  1. Please tell Tom McGregor to get a life. Maybe if Watkin’s predecessors spent a few minutes screwing around at work they wouldn’t have had time to put so many innocent men in jail.

  2. Hey Justin — Craig “I’m a show horse, not a work horse” Watkins did not start the effort to free innocent men in prison. His predecessor started the DNA review process — Watkins is only taking credit for it.

  3. Tom McGregor is constantly making statements in posts with no facts to back them up, even though he bills himself as a reporter for Dallas Blog (rather than the usual nut-brained commentators they use on a regular basis). He’s also known for writing screaming headlines that have no connection to the following “story.”

  4. And Dallas Blog posts written by Tom McGregor are actually written by Tom Pauken Jr., son of the site’s owner Tom Pauken.

  5. Thank you Krista Nightengale! Most corporate and celebs do not actually do there blogging and social media posts! And initially Facebook was primarily for social networking. But, we all know it has ivolved into so much more. Facebook is actually at the top of the list in the area of “marketing tools” for every segment of business! The White House uses Facebook to market and communicate with citizens DAILY! Obviously, T. McGregor is DESPERADO for something to journal about. This notion that you have created has absolutely no weight nor worth! And honestly, whether it’s business, compaigning, or personal… I think we all benefit from the saving of our trees! It’s a total waste of paper & time and foolish not to utilize online marketing!
